Report on the City of Posadas, Missiones

Hello Lexton, and others in the Posadas area. I hope this report helps you and others get something out of your visit. I spent over a month in Posadas and found that action in this city is basically concentrated in two streets: Calle Uruguay and Calle Santa Catalina. On Calle Santa Catalina the action starts quite early, around 7 P.M. or so and continues until around midnight. The area of interest on Calle Santa Catalina is about 5 blocks from the bus terminal in Posadas. There is is a short time motel on the same street, about 4 blocks or so from the terminal. The number of girls on the streets seem to be related to the temperature. When it was cold, it was usually the same faces. When it´s warm there are more girls on the street. The price on Santa Catalina is 25 pesos, maybe 20. On Calle Uruguay, on the other hand, the action starts relatively late, at around 10:30 P.M.
and continues until about 3 A.M. or so. The prices are similar. On Calle uruguay, the talent seems to be around or after you pass the YPF service station, after the bottom of the hill.

There are also many boliches in town: Metro, and Power Disco. There is also one on Calle San Lorenzo across from the casino. Many Paraguayitas seem to congregate there. The boliches start at 2 A.M. and continue until the morning. There are also a few blondes on Calle Uruguay. My favorite blonde is no longer working, however. There are some hardcore, I mean really experienced women there, but then also some sweet Paraguayitas. Some of the Paraguayitas only work on the weekends. Others work daily. Also check out Plaza Saint Martin on the weekends. Calle Junin and Catamarca is also the location of two girls. You can also try Colon and La Rioja, although I have only seen one blonde working there. There are two motels in town where you can take the women. If you have more time, you can also take some dance lessons which is another way to meet non-pros. The newspaper Primera Edicion also has numbers for escorts, but only three or so ads. That is it.

At any rate, prices in Posadas are about half of what they are in Buenos Aires. Granted, the selection is far fewer, yet the city seems to be a lot safer. It ought to be, there seem to be an army of police patrolling microcentro and environs. The pace here is slow, but at least there are things to do when you get bored with mongering, there are interesting places to visit in Missiones province. That raps it up for now. If anyone is looking for a wife in these parts, the men seem to prefer the women from the interior of Missiones. The area around Ruta 12 is the most used/overused part of the province. Along Ruta 14 you find more forested areas and less population in case you want to get away from the city.

I went to Posadas in mid August to check it out. While I had a decent time in Posadas, I would not especially recommend the city for women. There is action here, but not much. As a city to stay in for any period of time, the life is generally uncomfortable and boring.

Thanks to Member#2055 and Nibu for your posts. They helped a lot.

On arrival I stayed at the Hotel Libertador. I paid $ar72/day double rate for a room with a Queen bed. This gave me guests TLN. The room was clean and nice. My biggest complaint was that for heat or air conditioning it was necessary to call the desk and have them turn it on. They turned it off automatically when I left the key at the desk. An obvious move to save electricity, but a pain. I stayed there about a week.

I looked around at the better hotel options(Julio Cesar, Posadas, Continental). All are around $ar100 double and chica friendly. I now have a nice room that is probably one of the best rooms in town. There are nice rooms in all these hotels, if you ask right. I have seen various rooms in all of them. For someone wanting a cheaper hotel, the City Hotel is in an excellent location on the plaza 1/2 block from Calle Bolivar and Hotels Continental and Posadas. Rooms look clean and spartan, about $ar50.

Posadas is a city small in area. The main El Centro is very small, about 12 blocks by 14 blocks. It is clean and generally safe throughout. The main commercial streets are San Lorenzo N-S and Bolivar E-W. Many other streets also have businesses in el centro, but less so. The Hotels Continental and Posadas are on Bolivar near San Lorenzo, and the Libertador is on San Lorenzo about 4 blocks away. The Julio Cesar is on Entre Rios about 1/2 block from San Lorenzo, 3 blocks from Bolivar.

The area outside of the El Centro is much larger, about 60 blocks E-W by 40 blocks N-S, mostly to the west and south of El Centro. All of the street names change between El Centro and the area outside. El Centro has 2 lane streets defining the N,S,W, and E borders of it's rectangle. The area outside is mostly newer residential, with many unpaved streets. It is mostly dark at night, and needs caution. Ruta 12 pretty much defines the southern border of the city, and the Parana rivier the northern and eastern borders. The bus terminal is on Ruta 12, at the "T" intersection of Ruta 12 and Santa Catalina. There is commerce on Ruta 12, but it is lower class and/or light industry type stuff. There is one large new supermarket, the Libertad, next to the bus terminal, but it has little more than the supermarkets in El Centro.

As reported, the main action is SW on Ave Uruguay and Ave Santa Catalina. Ave Uruguay runs from the South end of El Centro N-S to Ruta 12, about 25 blocks south. Santa Catalina is about 13 blocks west of Ave Uruguay, and runs parallel N-S. The action areas are 15-30 blocks from the hotels, so you need to do taxi tours. Most taxis are metered. The taxi tour of Santa Catalina runs about $ar15 to go down, pass thru twice, and come back to the hotel. The tour of Av Uruguay is about the same.

There are 3 hourly love motels on Ruta 12 between the bus terminal and the airport, a distance of about 4 km. They look halfway decent from the outside. I have not looked inside, because I always bring women to my hotel.

The first night(Monday) I went to check out the xxx scene. I got a tour from a taxista at normal taxi rates. It was late, around 11PM. It was quite chilly, not real cold. There wasn't much on Ave Uruguay. Maybe 10-15 women total in the 25 block length. There were some transvestites in the mix. I saw nothing special, all were obviously too big. There was nothing at all in Ave Santa Catalina. We went to bar Karin, but there was nothing there. 2 very ugly women and 1 man. The cabbies tell me it is the only bar with working women in town, the other bars are discos with mostly non-working women. We went back to the taxi stand near the Hotel Continental about 12:30AM. The cabbie went inside the Hotel Continental and came out with a cute early 20's woman. We talked, but she wanted $ar200 for 2 hours. The normal market for a street girl is $ar25-30 per hour session. Now I have enough money that I could easily afford this. But I am not going to contribute to the destruction of the market here the way the gringos are destroying Buenos Aires Capital Federal. I told her "That is ridiculous" and walked away. My virtue was repaid handsomely.

While I was explaining the situation with the woman to the cabbie, another woman walked down Calle Colon toward us, and the cabbie said she was working. We talked, and she agreed to TLN until 8:00AM for $ar100. Yes! She is my new favorita, and is the best I have had anywhere, by far. She is a 21 year old part brazilian, very sweet, terrific hard body. I am now seeing her regularly 9PM-9AM for $ar150, which is a little too generous. She normally works for about $ar30 for a session of 30-60 min, the high side for this market. After seeing her about 10 times, I gave her a gift of $ar200 at the beginning of the night, saying simply: "You deserve a gift". I deliberately did not want to give it to her with the normal money in the morning, because I did not want to create an expectation and future disappointment. I will give her at least one more gift before I leave.

BTW, the second night I saw my favorita from only 9:00PM to 12:00PM, and she said she wanted $ar50 for this time. I gave her $ar60.

I saw my new favorita a lot for the next week or so. I finally needed to rest and look for someone else and went looking. On a Wednesday I went walking about 9:00PM in Santa Catalina and walked the entire 12 block strip from the bus terminal to about the Shell Station, the end of the action area. I didn't see much, maybe about 15-20 women, all big and some fat. About 5-8 quality. I did find the smallest woman I have seen, and made a date to return and see her the next evening. The next night I toured earlier with a taxi at about 7:30-8:00PM. I didn't see much different from the night before, so I went with the one I saw the day before. When we got back to the hotel, I realized just how small she was, under 5ft, but quite cute. She says she is 20yo and has a child of 4yo! She agreed to stay until 8:00AM for $ar120, the true rate for TLN. She probably sessions for $ar25-30. Unfortunately, she was a pain. She doesn't kiss, doesn't like to hug, doesn't like DATY, does a bad BBBJ, no CIM, and has a too much pro attitude. A typical SW. So I am probably not seeing her again. UPDATE: One week later, I went looking again and didn't see much. I talked to this very small woman again, and she promised if I saw her again she would be better. I wanted to believe her, and saw her again. I even tried an incentive and said I would give her $ar150 for the night. In short, her attitude didn't improve much. She DID sort of do what I asked(kiss, hug, DATY, some BBBJ mostly) but only a minimum to be able to say she did. I just don't seem to learn that their attitudes NEVER improve. If they hate what they are doing, nothing you can do or give them will help. The best you will get is a contract lawyer who tries to do just enough to keep from being thrown out.

I took a tour by taxi the next night(Friday) about 7:30 again, and then walked the 12 blocks of Santa Catalina again. I didn't see anybody interesting, so I walked over and walked the entire 25 blocks of Ave Uruguay, getting to the end about 11:00PM. There were about 12-15 women on Uruguay, including some TV's. Nothing better than a too big 6-8. So I rested.

I have found out there are women working the first 4 blocks next to Santa Catalina in the street behind the bus terminal(Av Santa Cruz, I think). On Thursday night I saw 7 women working this section, about 6-8 quality.

After several tours of Santa Catalina, I have found the best time is about 8:15PM. But one fairly nice one arrives about 8:30. The action is over at about 9:30. The women have not varied much during the past 3 weeks. For Ave. Uruguay, the best time is about 11:30-12:PM. The action is pretty much over about 1:30AM.

I am back to seeing my favorita over the weekend. I could easily love this woman. But during the week I will check out the rest of the scene again.

During the weekend, I looked around Plaza San Martin when the opportunity presented itself. Saturday about 7:00PM I saw what were probably 1-2 women working, 5-7 quality. I didn't try to talk to them.

After a few weeks, I spotted 4 small women working together in Ave Uruguay. I talked to them, and went with a pretty 19YO. She has 3 kids, 1,2, AND 3YO. But here we go again. Doesn't really do BJ at all, let alone BBBJ. She has no concept of how to do a BJ. Doesn't do DFK and doesn't like kissing. She was cheap, $25ar the session. But the problem with these SW is that they are accustomed to a very quick session of vaginal sex with a condom and done. The young ones, especially, have no sexual knowledge at all. And being very poor, very little sophistication of any kind. They don't understand the concept of the GFE and aren't interested. I won't repeat with any of the 4, as 3 of them are sisters and have common backgrounds.

My guess would be that the local men use these women only for sexual relief. I think they think of wives and girlfriends for the GFE, and are not interested in this service from a prostitute. It is also very possible that they would not accept this from a prostitute, since they look down on the prostitute relationship so much.

I haven't seen many signs of action outside the areas discussed. I have talked with several cabbies and a couple of desk guys about finding women. None has any other suggestions. One cabbie showed me a woman who regularly works at Junin and Catamarca in the center, about an 8, but too big. There are actually 2 sisters that work this corner. The same cabbie mentioned club "Totem", but said it was far away and didn't really seem enthusiastic about it. There do seem to be women working here and there throughout the city. They can be very hard to recognize as SW. They tell me there are no other streets with many women working.

I have gone out with 4 or 5 women from Ave Uruguay and Santa Catalina. All were more or less repeats of the above, nothing really noteworthy.

I have encountered something very new in the internet cafes. Four have had a filter program running that would not allow me to access WSG, let alone an escort site. Others have let me access WSG, but have signs saying "Do not access pornography" or "do not access pages of low moral content". I have to admit there are a lot of school kids hanging around the city center, which is unusual. It seems that many kids go to catholic schools in el centro. But also, the internet cafes seem to go out of their way to limit privacy, rather than provide it, by the way they arrange the machines. I hate this type of censorship. For me, some of the lowest moral content on the internet is the political and religious stuff. Not to mention the disgusting video games the kids are playing. This censorship may be partly due to the influence of the church, which seems strong here. Just the province name "Misiones" gives one this clue. I am going to make a concerted effort to find adult oriented internet cafes. I did start asking: "Do you have a filter program running?", in order to find the 2 cafes I use that allow access to WSG. But they do not provide privacy, so I am going to look further.

On internet cafes, I recommend 2 for privacy for the machines: La Cueva, in the Galeria Americana on Calle Azara between San Martin and Sarmiento; and Proyecto Cyber, in a shopping gallery at the corner of Ayacucho and Rioja.

There isn't much here by way of restaurants. I have found only a few complete restaurants here in 6 weeks. Almost all of the "restaurants" are sandwicheria's, offering sandwiches, hamburgers, and pizza. I haven't had a decent salad since I left Asuncion. I found a Chinese "tenedor libre" restaurant but the selection was terrible and the food gave me diarrhea. The "Lomo Completo" sandwiches in the cafes seem to be a good option. The pizza is all the terrible "too much bread" stuff one finds so much down here. "Masa fina" or thin crust does not seem to be an option anywhere. I have been able to eat some relatively wholesome stuff in the supermarkets, but the selection is terrible. There is currently only one supermarket chain in town.

They take the siesta seriously here. Most restaurants and stores close from 1:00PM to at least 4:00PM, including the supermarkets. This makes it tough for me, because I like to eat lunch/dinner at about 3:30PM. Almost everything is closed on Sunday, especially until about 6:00PM. There are a few cafes open on Calle Bolivar, the main commercial street.

There is a riverside park in the northeast part of the city, called the Costanera. It is a few kilometers long and is very pleasant. It is great for walking or jogging. The river is wide here, at least a kilometer. On the other side is Encarnacion, Paraguay. I have walked the Costanera in the evening with my favorita, and dined in the Sandwicheria restauarants, of which there are 4 or 5. All have a great view, especially at night.

In the end, I have stayed here 3 months, strictly because of the woman I met. Without her, I would have been out of here after 2 weeks.

I just spent the month of February back in Posadas. I stayed mostly because I am still seeing my amiga from the first trip. She met me a few times in Asunción for a 4 day stay and now I am back visiting here on this 3 month stint in Argentina.

Little has changed from my last visit and post. There seem to be fewer women working in Av Uruguaya and in Santa Catalina. Also, the quality seems to have declined, although this is very subjective. I don´t know if it is the economy or if the better ones have gone to Buenos Aires.

I did go with a couple of SW for $ar30 for a short time visit(< 1 hour). They were not very interesting, about 6-7 quality, but the price seems to be holding.

The Santa Catalina action is a little later in the summer than during Aug-Oct. They were arriving more 9:00ish, and it was basically over by 10:30. The Uruguay action was still in the 11:00 - 12:00PM range, over by 1:00AM. There are some who say they start in Uruguay at 10:00PM, so if you know the area you may spot some earlier. You have to be able to identify them by location from non-working women earlier.

Nothing else of interest seems to be happening. I saw a few workers in the hotel late(12:00PM) but nothing special. YMMV.

I may as well update the information on Posadas, since my last post is now so old. I have actually spent a lot of time in Posadas, with a total of 3 months in 2005 and I just left after Jan. And Feb. Of 2006.

I kind of like Posadas, the center is small, compact, rather quiet and unpretentious. There isn't that much there, but the architecture is more interesting than the plains cities. Kind of like the difference between Oklahoma and Europe. I was again seeing my amiga there, still one of my favorite women. She stayed with me almost every night. I was starting to get too comfortable with her company, I think. There happens to be a combination of services available for me in Posadas that allows me to stay comfortably, at a reasonable price, in pleasant surroundings. So I have, but I don't know how much I will return in the future.

The overall scene has not changed significantly. There still seem to be fewer women working on the street now than in 2004, maybe less than Feb. 2005. There was an increase in ads for apartments in "Primera Edicion" for a while, but they have fallen back to usually 2 or 3.

There are now more women working on Av Uruguay than Santa Catalina. The bulk of the women on Uruguay are between the rotunda and the YPF station, probably about 12 total on most days. There can be a decent selection for a street scene. There are a few still working at times in the last 5 blocks or so closest to el centro. The area in the center of Uruguay still has mostly TV's, with occasional women mixed in. In Santa Catalina, they are still in the same area.

There are still a couple of women working in el centro at times on Colon between Bolivar and Rioja. There are no new clubs that I can find.

The street price is still $ar50 + hotel per hour. TLN is about $ar150-200.

The prices of the top hotels have gone up by about 15%-25%. So there is inflation in hotels outside of Buenos Aires.

I think most people will still find Posadas very boring, since it really is quite a small city center, even though the total city population is 250,000. There is a new peatonal (walking street for shopping) they created in el centro on Calle Bolivar, only 2 blocks long at this point, to give you an idea. It was completed in summer 2005. There are still few restaurant options, that scene has not changed.

I still think Posadas is a good entry / exit for Paraguay by bus. I exited Paraguay thru Clorinda in Jan. 2006 and it was much more of a hassle than the Posadas exit. That is still probably the best reason to go there.
