I've passed it a hundred times in Palermo and occasionally I watch the final seconds of the races on the "Cronica" channel. But Ive yet to visit.

Has anybody been there? How is the betting system? Can I walk in like a slob or is there a dress code? Other info and advice?

Ive only been to the races once (in the USA) but thats mainly because Ive never lived anywhere close to a track.

Thanks,

Moore

I live across the street and go there all the time. Races are alternated between the 3 tracks in the area meaning there are about 10 races here each month. Standard parimutual betting. The basement is a huge casino (slots only) A great restaurant and two confiterias which are very cheap. No dress code as I always dress like a slob. There is a 5 peso entry fee on race days but they refund that if you go to the casino cage. Be advised that no alcohol is served on race days.

Thanks Norman,

I'm assuming that the race days will be in the newspaper Clarin but not sure. If not, how can I find out what they are?

I won't enter the casino if its slots only. No alcohol anywhere on race days? Nowhere?

This implies that the place is open on non-race days. Why would anyone enter on a nonrace day? Just for the bar?

I hope these arent dumb questions but this I have no experience with this.

as a dumb question:

1) Correctomundo, Clarin.

2) Correctomundo, Nowhere.

3) Correctomundo, Open 24/7's.

I go there for the good cheap food. Trolling for slot addicts happens to be my hobby in Las Vegas. It's amazing how a twenty peso note opens the lines of communication when her machine is low on creditos.

Thanks.

Yes the slot addict approach sounds very easy.

But do you find anything worth pursuing there? In most casinos Ive been to, including the boat here in BA, most the slot players seem to be chain-smoking grannies.
