Anyone know anything about polo?

I was taken by chance to the Jockey Club in San Isidro (sp?) a week or so ago to see a polo match. Up until that day, I was so fucking stupid I thought they hit the ball with the round end of the mallet. LOL!

Anyway, I had a good time. It was a pleasant way to pass a couple of hours, and there were lots and lots of good looking chicas. So I was thinking I might want to get a bit more involved as a spectator.

The problem is, I think going out to the Jockey Club on a regular basis is a bit out of my league.

Are there polo fields closer in? Are the matches open to the general public, or at least to whoever feels like coughing up the price of admission?

Actually, any info that anyone might have and care to share about polo around here would be appreciated.

Thanks,

SL

Sure, in Palermo. The polo grounds are right near the race track, off Libertador around like 4500 or so. On the other side of Libertador from the race track. Exon went. PM him.

StrayLight,

Argentina has the finest Polo in the world. Course CockSucker Mongers, and the dumb MotherFuckers that post here don't have a clue.

Its sorta like having "High Tea" with Miss Sol, who would know what an experience it is unless you know what it is.

Campeonato Abierto de Polo, Argentinean Polo Championship it's one of the most important Polo competitions in the world. British are not invited since Malvinas (falklands) war, and last year Adolfo Cambiaso was the star of this competition, so far he is called the Maradona of Polo, he married Maria Vasquez, a supermodel and this December 10th his team "La Dolfina" got the coup for 20-19 score. By a goal made by cambiaso during the extra time. Polo Championship it's played every year in Las Canitas (Palermo)

By the way polo it's pretty expensive, you'll need one horse per chukker and consider around 100k (USD) yearly only for mantainance (in Argentina) plus the horses itself, besides that issue it's a lovely sport. I've made a couple of videos available online http://www.barts.com.ar/barts/flash_video.php?recordID=polo and this one I like it more but it's not only about polo http://www.barts.com.ar/barts/flash_video.php?recordID=tango_polo and here is more info and article

I'm surprised that us 'Brits' are banned, and by the way its the FALKLANDS not some other name you called it, check any atlas.

Flexible Horn,

Its rumored that prince Harry was a bad boy while he was in Argentina.

Very possibly he was caught out Mongering.

He was planned by the Crown to spend a month at an Argentine Polo ranch just killing time before he was to enter some Birtish military academy.

Well after a week or so he was wisked out of the country under questonable circumstances. No real reason was ever given by the Buckingham Palace as to why Harry left the country.

If Harry is a Monger, he's a stand up guy, one of us.

Yep. Strong monger rumors so he had to go home to the original sex prison.

"The Annual Great Argentine Chica Watching Event" at Palermo today, otherwise known as the Open Argentine Polo Championships and naturally attended by Exon and Sidney, must have been a wash-out before the gravy stroke. What a wild electrical storm and I guess centred right over the Palermo grounds. Well boys, wet arse and no fish. Come back next year!

There are a lot of polo fields and clubs in the Pilar, Open Door, Lujan area. I don't know if this is any closer for you but I am sure they are a little cheaper if nothing else. This is where a lot of people keep thier ponies and practice.
