F1 fans- Sunday March 18 will be the first race of the season. A couple questions:

1. Is the race carried on a cable station in Buenos Aires?

2. If so, what time does the race air?

3. Any suggestions for a good place to watch the race ?

Regards.

There is a brief blurb about it on ESPN Deportes, the Latin America sports channel. However, it starts at 6am Buenos Aires time, even if it is on television, you won't be able to watch it live anywhere other than from your home/hotel. It's possible it will be on ESPN, probably you need to check the website a few days in advance.

No more Michael.

Tonight it will be the Ice Man Kimi on the poll.

Alonso right behind. New team, new car, how does he do it?

10pm on Fox Sports, Cablevision.

I do not know about Directv or Comcast or what other Sats there are.

First of all a little info about these races.

These cars cost about US$8-10 million apiece. Each brake cost US$30,000. Talk about stopping on a dime. They do it.

These are not oval tracks. The speed and turns does a number on the body.

There are two cars to each team, plus spares. There is a driver championship and car manufactures championship.

There were 22 cars in the race. Kimi Raikkonen won the race from poll to finish in a Ferrari, but his partner in the other Ferrari, blew an engine in qualifying, so he had to start last and ended up in Sixth place. Not bad. The defending Champ, Fernando Alonso was second.

Fast and exciting. With lots of honeys at the track.

Next race is on April 8th, at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Practice is on the 6th and qualifying is on the 7th.

WT69,

The Malaysian Grand Prix will start at 2:55 am Eastern Daylight Savings Time the morning of April 8th. Qualifying will start at 2:00 am on the Saturday morning. These aren't the broadcast start time but when the cars roll off. This is important and I'm happy to help you with the details.

Since we are now in daylight savings time there is a 1 hr difference to BA.

Go Kimi, finally he is in a good car.

Can anyone tell me where the Argentinian GP used to be held?

One night I was in Buller Brewing company after the Australian GP race, they were showing the worst F1 crashes on tape on TV. I do not know which channel. It showed a crash at a race course in BA. I figured it was in the 1970's.

Can anyone recall?

Regards.

Smuler.

PS- some of the worst crashes I recall seeing on TV in the USA including Gilles Villeneuve being thrown from his car still attached to his seat into the wall in Zolder Belgium. Too bad he was killed during practice, as his fucking teammate lied to him and told him that he would allow Gilles to take the pole. Supposedly, he then set quickest time with only 2 minutes left in qualifying. Villeneuve was on a " flyer" when he plowed into the back of Hans Stuck who was going very slow in front of him.

Good thing I turned it on at 10 to 11am or I would not know who won.

I'll try to do better next race.

The way I found out the times is by going to www.formula1.com, on the schedule page if you click on the times it reads your computer clock and tells you your time zone and the times. I guess the rental computer I used has a screwed up clock. The Last race it was right. Then, I went to Exedra and glanced at the spanish TV times. It said 9 and 11.

Is the Iceman melting?

Even though I am a Honda fan (Don't laugh) I think BMW might make the podium.

Too bad about Robert Kubica in Montreal. I understand Sebastian Vettel will take over his seat this weekend.

I remember when Bertrand Gachot was arrested in London for macing a taxi driver. His seat was taken over for a weekend by a young guy named M Schumacher. We never saw Gachot again.

Ok WT. It's time to get to the nitty gritty of this season.

Kimi must win this weekend, or it looks like it's going to be slipping away.

It would be great if BMW did well this weekend. Could make it the most interesting year in many if that happens.

Any thoughts.

PS. Next year-no American GP, which will make Montreal even more difficult to go to see. I was hoping after Jacques left F1, Montreal would return back to the more " sane days".

Montreal- a great place to see F1, fabulous GFE escorts, too bad the dollar is worth nothing anymore.

I am sort of upset. I don't like the one kind tire rule. It was more fun to watch which different tire would be better in the rain or sun.

With six races to go Kimi still has a chance, but Hamilton is tough to beat.

I love it that Alonso is pissed at Hamilton.

It is too bad that some of the tracks are too hard to pass on. It would be nice if they could widen them.

Greed is what killed it for Indy.

Each driver must use both compounds / specifications during the race unless it is a wet race when they would use intermediate or rain tires.

Kimi is my favorite driver but I don't think he will win the championship unless the McLarens run into mechanical problems or crashes. A 20 point deficit with 6 races remaining is big gap to close. Alonso taking points away from Hamilton will help but will not be enough.

A few years ago F1 changed points system from 10-6-4-3-2-1 to 10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1 making it difficult to close a gap as long as the competition completes the race in the points.

The Ferrari is more suited to the remaining tracks, which are fast, than it was to the slow tracks.

Enjoy the qualification tomorrow morning, it could decide the winner of Sunday's race.

Qualifying at 8:00 EDT on Saturday and the race at the same time on Sunday morning at the rewamped Spa circuit. Very slight changes, Spa is still the best circuit used by F1.

Yesterday the FIA handed Ferrari the constructors title. The driver title is still up for grabs between the McLaren drivers. My money is on Alonso because of his experience.

Ferrari and McLaren are to strong for BMW this year but next year will be a different story. BMW have made fantastic progress since taking over Sauber. I expect them to be much closer to the two front running teams next year.

I was very happy after qualifying yesterday to see Kimi on pole. Except for mechanical problems and the start, qualifying is the deciding factor.

Alonso closed the gap to Hamilton by 1 point, only 2 points to go for a tie. Kimi is 13 points back with 3 races to go. He needs a storybook ending to the season to be champion. Ferrari need to make him the number 1 driver for the remaining races.

Qualifying for the Japanese Grand Prix is tonight at 1:00 am, that would be 10:00 pm Friday evening on the US west coast.

The cars will roll off for the race at 12:25 am tomorrow night, which would be a comfortable 9:25 pm Saturday evening on the west coast.

Kimi still has a theretical chance of winning the championship after his win at Spa. One or two McLaren failures would make for an interesting championship.

Again a race in the middle of the night for us in the Americas. Qualifying at 2:00 am EDT Saturday and the race at the same time on Sunday morning. US TV brodcast for the race starts at 1:30 am.

The Japanese race was a fiasco as the FIA cost Ferrari dearly for not notifying them of the rules change. Now they are investigating Hamilton for his erratic driving behind the safety car. If found guilty, he could get a 10 place penalty which isn't a tough penalty considering his points lead and the quality of the McLaren car.

Kimi fastes in opening day practise in China but with small margin.

Many of the Japanese superbikes are being developed and tuned in Italy by small specialty firms. I wonder if their f1 effort might benefit from a similar association? I have a seat of the pants hunch they may be involved in such an endeavor, and could emerge with a much more sophisticated effort in 08.Not enough $$ in their budgets.

Kimi is Campione del Mondo di F1

The rookie showed he was a rookie when the pressure was on.

Will we find Alonso in a Renault next year? BMW will improve and we can now look forward to Melbourne in March '08. There could be four teams running at the front. When will Toyata's big investment pay off?

It was nerve wrecking to be a Kimi fan today.

Quite an ending to the year....

I have been watching F1 since the 80's, and this was one of the best finishes that ever took place. Even Kimi smiled at the end!

Hopefully next year, my beloved Honda will rise from the ashes, and claim it's place as a premier F1 team.

Enough of this Ferrari shit. (Just kidding)

I saw no Michael Schumacher presence in the Ferrari camp. Quite a surprise to me.
