BA over RDJ?

I've been a Brazil guy for the past few years and am now looking for good reasons to go to Buenos Aires. Exchange rate aside, please give me some reasons for making a September trip to BA instead of RDJ -- please.

1) Debateable. One thing is certain however. The Carioca chicas wear less and more revealing clothing. Do they even own bras?

2) Safer--no doubt.

3) IMO food in Rio wins hands down. Rodizios by the score, Oriental, Italian, seafood buffets and seafood rodizios abound. Juice / smoothie counters everywhere.

4) It doesn't snow in Rio. And never a need for scarfs, sweaters or even socks.

6) Rio has its favellas and BA has it misery villages. Lablon, Leme, Barra, Ipanema and parts of Gavea are georgeous.

Here's a little empirical study you can do on your own and obtain a hint about how the garotas in Rio compare to the B. A. Chicas.

In both cities: Situate yourself in the vicinity of a tube stop at rush hour (morning or evening seems to be about the same) Find a spot where those, approaching the tube entrance will be looking ahead (for the escalator or stars) and position yourself in an open and obvious place where they will see you. As people approach, find yourself an attractive young thing and watch her closely, looking into her face the entire time she approaches you. If / when she looks at you, smile slightly.

In B.A. The chicas generally avoind "seeing" you; they look down, or over, or past you. No response, despite an intent stare. Maybe one in ten will look at you, and then it is usually impassively. Age doesn't seem to matter.

In Rio the contrast is dranatic. About 9 out of 10 will look directly at you, size you up quickly, and if they like what they see, they will initiate a wonderfully broad smile and often "freshen" their stride. Barring that, they will check you over - quickly - and dismiss you (that hurts! Age doesn't seem to matter; I am amazed that an old coot such as I get responses from women into (I would guess) their 50's.

Don't get me wrong: I love the B.A. Women. No complaints. But the message a carioca garota sends about herself and her passions when you lock eyes with her and she breaks into a smile says it all. Muito bem!

By all means check B.A. out, though IMHO it's not quite as much fun. But it is more economical!

Matter of personal choice. It depends on what mood you are in and what you are looking for. For me, BA provides a more cultured environment and more variety of activities.

Well, I have read most of the important ones. And have added a few reports of my own.

Here we go, Rio or B. A?

If you are big and strong, and know Martial Arts go to Rio. Like I did.

Or if want to get laid with no problems go to Argentina.

In Brazil I hear that if you go South it is safer. I have only been to Rio Five times, and know that it is getting worst.

I was shopping at a local store near my home in the S. F. Bay Area and met a Garota that was from Rio. I was wearing a Rio Polo shirt, so she mentioned that she was she was born in Rio and was afraid to go home. But when she did, she went South to Florianapolis.

Read my reports on the cities of Argentina. No problems. Very safe.

I have been to both Rio and BA and both are world class mongering spots. Since I'm not a man of unlimited means I find BA the better value right now (especially if you rent an apartment and visit the privados) I find the following things better in BA:

-Safety (I have never felt threatened in BA, in Rio you definitely need to be careful)

-The appearance of the woman (I love the Italian influence)

-The cosmopolitan nature of the city.

But, there are definitely things I miss about Rio, namely:

-The beach (it really adds to a vacation feel)

-The termas (God are they fun-imagine an X-rated happy hour in ancient Rome. Toga. Toga. Toga!

-The sexual attitude of the garota, very carnal!

That's my two cents!

BA is a large Metropolis. It's kind of like going to New York on vacation. Rio has the beaches and that lush tropical feel.

If your interest is strictly P4P, then I would say BA if you like the more Europeon type, Rio if you like, well Brazileiras.

If you have other interests, I would advise you to do some other research.

My last trip was to Rio, My next to BA. After that, probably Rio again.

I have been thinking of a RDJ side trip when I come back to BA next year. Are the prices really this high? Granted this is obviously the peak time, and gringo rates combined.

Bloomberg probably has it about right. I would say a reasonable TLN in normal times (nao Carneval and, apparently, PAG) from HELP is arounf R200 (ca. US$100) But it can vary on the night, the girl, the monger, the season, the crowd, whatever. As is the case with other such establishments across the globe (e. g., Thermae in Bangkok) the action starts late; it's only beginning to dial up at 0100. Before 0300 it can be difficult to strike a deal for less than the garota asks. From 0300-0430 (or so) the negotiated price tends to drop. But, of course, there's not much N left for the TLN. What you might try is going there about 2330, sit down at the cafe out front, order a chop (draft beer) and assess and interact with the garotas who are out there who strike your fancy. Many come to HELP and have no / little intention of going in. One can usually satisfy one's wishes with this crowd - and score, I would think (in normal times) TLN for maybe 150. But 200 is OK. I'm an old dog and such late night games are no longer my preference. I'll use take-out (escort svcs such as ScotShow) or, better yet, find my TLNs in the thermas. When I've had a good time with a garota with whom I click in one of those places (I love 'em) I'll ask her to join me at my place for a TLN. Appointments are easy to make (bring your cell phone #) On a few occasions I have been lucky enough to do the garota just before she's off work, and on at least 3 occasions I waited for them out front of the therma and then off we went - always well before midnight. Usually, though, it's for a future evening - either at midnight (when they are finished) or over a weekend night (if the therma is in Centro) or on an off night. The most I've ever paid a therma garota that I've taken to dinner, and maybe some dancing (in Lapa) is R100 with taxi fair in the morning. More often, I'll buy them some clothes or electronics or whatever at one of the street markets (all over town until about 1100) for maybe R50? Then, in the morning, only taxi and maybe a R20 tip. Those Brasiladas just simply like to screw, and if they can get a good meal and a bikini out of it, they are as happy as that fabled Girl From Ipanema.
