Anyone have recommendations for places or people to cut hair? Waxing? Facial? Manicure? I've used a girl at Av. Corrientes 753 14E named Clara. 4322-4196. She'll do a pretty good massage, facial and wax whatever, but absolutely nothing else, no endings, not that you'd want one from her. Can't cut hair and won't add another girl to do that.

Also tried d'Antuan on Florida, but they aren't the most talented barbers around. Massages come from different girls and they are good, but also professional. The better the massage, the more professional (isn't that always the case? Just a big salon, but friendly. They have been going thru remodeling, but I haven't seen the place in months. 4393-0044.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Thanks for any suggestions.Full service salon (not privado full service, no release) and the chica that has the number one chair at the front of the store is built like a brick shithouse. Take the redline up to the madrano exit when you get off walk contra traffic for two blocks and it's on the left. It's pricey but nice.

Then there is a good ice cream place across the street and on your walk back to the subte take a right at Acunya de Figuora and that is the flower market. This time of year you can buy fresh cut Jasmin for like 3 pesos a bundle and your apartment will stink real purty.

There a loreal salon on Florida it seems to me about 5blocks aways from the park (Mariott) and they do offer everything, but did not get a finish (not saying this not possible as there many people working there) Always got very nice massage there and depending what order you wanted to be processes it was only about 4 blocks from that esmeralda 527 place so on wkends was quite handy to do get full service. Another place close to apartment was on ayacucho about 3blocks on cemetary side of sante fe on the left side as you walking towards sante fe. A beautfiul old house with chandeliers and a couple very pretty / nice hairdressers. I fantasized about having extras with my hair cut, but pretty sure this not an option. Very nice place and cannot remember name. My hairdresser's name there was Jimena.

I have always been happy with the manicures and pedicures received here. They also do haircuts though I haven't had one here. Not sure about other services. For the most part it is a busy, legit place. You can get a massage with relax but you have to request the VIP option ("veep" not v-i-p). The VIP massage is pricy here and not the most economical as far as sensual massage go in BA.

What about trimming pubic hair and waxing around the genitals? I may want to look like a porn star. Are there spas that specialize in that?

(well, I'm serious about the trim, anyway)

Loreal is the same place as d'Antuan, depending on the business card. It is a nice spa like the ones back home, but much cheaper, of course. I've had better haircuts, but theirs are a bit above average. All the massages have been pretty good, with only one girl receptive (I think) to going further.

My best experiences have been in private apartments run by one or two girls running salons on the cheap. Sometimes a smaller hair salon with a couple of girls catering to men. Good attention, superior service and a range of things they could do. I posted one address with the limitations described. Just wondering if you guys have come across any other public, private salons or single girls working out of apartments who can cut hair too, as well as other things too.

I didn't see any other more appropriate place to post this.

Does anyone have any recommendations on getting your back waxed?

No I am not like that 30 year old virgin movie, but I am getting older and the shit is growing in the wrong places.

Cheers!

I've actually been looking into that as well, here. (laser for back hair)

Much cheaper than the States. According to one site I visited, a clinic out here in Pilar, they have a number of different processes for different skin types and all, and for a man's back, the entire treatment costs something like $400 pesos, including all follow-up treatments as unaffected folicles grow back in. Amazing.

My hair situation is way out of control:

Back.

Shoulders.

Butt.

Middle Of My Eyebrows.

Ears.

More and more obvious THE NOSE.

I dare to ask but does anyone use clippers on body hair? I hear laser takes a long time and can leave Scarring. Anybody?

The laser option depends heavily on the color of the hair and requires multiple treatments.

The waxing that is over in a few minutos.

Scaring is a possibility with a botched treatment.

Yeah Artisttyp I know the feeling! My body has betrayed my primitive innerself to those who see me in the swimming pool, lounging in the sun, etc! Heh.

I looked into this a little bit, but haven't gotten deep into it yet.

There are a number of factors that could make a treatment not work. The frequency or color of the laser needs to be set right for skin color and hair color. There are certain types of lasers that should be used for certain types of skin. The treatment does have to be repeated, because apparently the treatment only works on folicles that are actively growing hair and all of your folicles don't grow hair all of the time.

I just can't imagine getting my hairy back waxed. But it's not just for looks either - I can't stand someone massaging me because it PULLS THE DAMNED HAIR! Even with lotion. I'd love a good backrub!

One of these days I'll try laser, I'm sure.

I get the low back patch with a side burn trimmer called a "T bar" size000 in professional circles.

Nose hairs I combat with tweezers or else I'd be trimming bushes daily. Even those come back.

Gotta tweeze your eyebrows unless you want the frida kahlo look.

It's brutal and YES people notice.
