A bit of perspective on immigration, religion and nationality by Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd.

Sent to me by e-mail and I reproduce it in full.

The Howard quoted was the former Prime Minister.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Muslims who want to live under Islamic Sharia law were told on Wednesday to get out of Australia, as the government targeted radicals in a bid to head off potential terror attacks.

Separately, Howard angered some Australian Muslims on Wednesday by saying he supported spy agencies monitoring the nation's mosques.

[These are Rudd's words of wisdom.]

Quote: 'IMMIGRANTS, NOT AUSTRALIANS, MUST ADAPT. Take It Or Leave It. I am tired of this nation worrying about whether we are offending some individual or their culture. Since the terrorist attacks on Bali, we have experienced a surge in patriotism by the majority of Australians.'

'This culture has been developed over two centuries of struggles, trials and victories by millions of men and women who have sought freedom. We speak mainly ENGLISH, not Spanish, Lebanese, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, or any other language. Therefore, if you wish to become part of our society, Learn the Language!'

'Most Australians believe in God. This is not some Christian, right wing, political push, but a fact, because Christian men and women, on Christian principles, founded this nation, and this is clearly documented. It is certainly appropriate to display it on the walls of our schools. If God offends you, then I suggest you consider another part of the world as your new home, because God is part of our culture.'

'We will accept your beliefs, and will not question why. All we ask is that you accept ours, and live in harmony and peaceful enjoyment with us.'

'This is OUR COUNTRY, OUR LAND, and OUR LIFESTYLE, and we will allow you every opportunity to enjoy all this. But once you are done complaining, whining, and griping about Our Flag, Our Pledge, Our Christian beliefs, or Our Way of Life, I highly encourage you take advantage of one other great Australian freedom, THE RIGHT TO LEAVE.'

'If you aren't happy here then LEAVE. We didn't force you to come here. You asked to be here. So accept the country YOU accepted.'

You can't be pissed off when you go to a country that they don't act like people from English-speaking countries. They are, of course, just being who they are, and if you don't like it, you can vote with your feet—no matter how much you like fucking their chicas.

Just saying.

ArgentoSinistra has a point. You have made many negative posts about the Argentinian economy, politics, way of life, and Argentinian character.

Why don't you follow Kevin Rudd's advice and JUST LEAVE? Or do the chicas compensate for all the other things you obviously dislike so much about Argentina?

This holds good for all mongers ( whether they are legal or illegal immigrants or just abusing the 3 month tourist visa which means enjoying the privileges of a immigrant voluntarily or involuntarily) but in any case who just continue to live and thrive in Argentina, earn money by its economy either directly or indirectly, enjoying its facilities without paying taxes, fuck their girls, though live here at least 10 months a year and still make fun of the Argentine economy and Argentine people, have a sex life which they can NOT even envisage to have in their own country but STILL STILL STILL continue to abuse Argentina in different ways 24/7 on this forum and perhaps to the locals as well!

If you disagree so much with what the Argentine do, quit the place! Though you may be a legal or a illegal immigrant or just on tourist visa ( but living here)

Thumbs up to Rudd's view point and to Lysander, Sinistra, once again!!

I concur with Rudd's views. When you "live" in a nation amalgamate with the locals, dont try to impose your own views and your own demands and from my point of view, more specifically if you are not paying taxes but enjoying all the privileges the beautiful country of Argentina has to offer.

RUDD - you are my man - the BEST!

His comments refer specifically to immigrant citizens. So for the record Captain,Lysander and Sinistra, when I post someone else's statement, it is still their statement, not mine. And I will continue to post on how I see life in Argentina, whether you like it or not. For my money, the three of you are obviously close to illiterate fools, made obvious by not understanding the context of the quote.

ArgentoThanks for the compliment. As it happens I am fully aware of the context of Ken Rudd's statement. I was born in Australia and make regular trips there. Are you saying that as a visitor its OK to bad mouth everything about the country but not if you are an immigrant? Not sure I follow that logic.

By the way, I am not blind to the many irritating and negative aspects of life in Argentina, especially I imagine if you are trying to run a small business. I am not even sure I would even want to own property here either. However, if I detested Argentina as much as you seem to, I would be trying to spend as little time there as possible. Is it really a much worse place to do business than say Italy, Nigeria, Kenya, India, China, Peru, Indonesia or any one of a hundred other countries outside the Anglo-Saxon world and northern Europe? As an outsider, not fluent in the local language, running a small business is bound to to be a tough number in any of these places.

Thankfully, like most readers of this board, I am not trying to run a business in Argentina. I come here because I like the night life, I like the music, I like the dancing, I like the food. I enjoy working to improve my Spanish and I like socialising with good Argentinian friends. The chicas are a bonus. Call me a deluded fool if you like, but I am just about to make my seventh visit here and will be around until mid December.

ArgentoLet me be a illiterate fool on basis of my comments.

Hello all mongers reading this post - I am a illiterate fool.

Now that part is done, let me add that just the way you will continue posting negative comments on Argentina on this forum what you feel like whether anyone likes or not - Same way the immigrants in Australia will likely continue doing things within the legal perspective at least, whether, Mr Rudd likes or not!!

Please note: I did not, and never do, get personal. I said "if you agree with this, then as an expat you shouldn't complain about local customs." For the record, I do know how to read and write and the ability to parse context as well.

Please don't attack me personally, I really don't like it.

Well! Well! My response post certainly made the 3 posters stand on their dignity. In effect the 3 of you want to question my motives for being here as if that is a reason in itself not to comment with genuine longterm knowledge on the state of Argentinian society. See your point but don't think the comments of an obscure politician from Australia on nationalised immigrants have any connection with why I live here and post the truth as I see it. And I am sure your comments would be different too, if you lived and ran a business here. And if your comments weren't personal and intended for me, I too am obviously illiterate.

And as an aside, our individual birth countries count for nought. As members of this forum we are immigrants to Mongerland and as such have the rights, responsibilities and full citizen entitlements of that place.
