[blue]When this club first opened in late 2003 it had some promise, but in early 2004 it was bought by the same people that own several other rip-off clubs in the area (Whiskeria, etc.), and of course they've changed to format to match their other establishments. Stay away.[/blue]
:ck-mark: Cutty Sark Reconquista (near Paraguay) 4311-0796
[blue]A distinguished old bar/club servicing the local business men as an after-work watering hole. This place has been in business I guess since the entire area was BA's brothel district a century ago. Still, ther are some attractive women in the place from time to time. What's nice about Cutty Sark is that they are open, stocked and ready for business at 5pm. They are also open until late at night, with ocassional live music. I would recommend it as an alternative to the usual circuit.[/blue]

[blue]Review by Lgover on 12-21-07: This place is a ripoff avoid guys. The girls were horrible. I am surprised how these places manage to thrive.[/blue]
[blue]Review by Boom: One of the best looking girls seen on the whole trip works here. Vicki, who is very thin and extremely pleasant, she was great. The room I was in had a Jacuzzi type set up that was pretty fun. The other girls working seemed to be the “switch” in the bait and switch. The place is worth a try, but don’t get your hopes up if Vicki isn’t working. 80 pesos for 30 minutes.[/blue]

:x-mark: Imagine Carlos Pelegrini 845 (between Paraguay & Cordoba) 4394-6380
[blue]Approximately 3 doors down from Excedra. Small, cheap, plywood topped bar, with typically 4 to 6 girls of less-than-desirable quality. Still, this doesn't stop them from asking $25ar for a glass of water, which increadibly enough they brought to me in a glass and would not leave the bottle. Obviously, the only way they're going to survive is by getting some accidental traffic from Excedra.[/blue]

:x-mark: Le Piaf Florida 944 (Galeria del Este) AND M.T. de Alvear 628
[blue]The best way to describe Le Piaf is as a "piano bar". Most potential customers get lured into the place by one of several female touts hanging out at the end of Florida Avenue passing out business cards and attempting to engage in conversations with any single men who may be tempted to listen. However, once you take the bait, the chica herself will escort you to the bar itself, which is really no more than a single small room generally devoid of any chicas.
Of course, at this point the chica that escorted you into the bar will then continue the conversation and generally try to get you to buy her a drink. That's the MO: The owner sends what few girls he has on duty at the time out into the street to lure whoever they can back to the bar. The reason that this is a waste of your time is that they really don't have any "inventory" for you to select from, and if you wander in on your own it's going to be "slim pickins" intil they call one of the girls off the street to come in and put the squeeze on you, and if that chica fails to extract a drink from you, then they will send another one and another one until you either leave or they run out of chicas.
Le Pliaf is for the lonely, the desperate, or the stupid, descriptions that I hope do not apply to any readers of this Forum.[/blue]

:ck-mark: Periplo Bar M.T. de Alvear 554, 4311-2885 / 3519 periplo-pub.com.ar
[blue]Located directly behind the Marriott Hotel, this place is open for business in the early evening to service the business men staying at the Marriott. However, there are rarely more than a half dozen women working there, and the selection is typically disappointing. Still, you never know when you're going to find a gem.[/blue]

:x-mark: Tributo Chacabuco 166 (Chacabuco & H Yrigoyen) 4342-1817 / 4342-4876
[blue]High pressure rip off joint in a questionable neighborhood. Awful red wallpaper / red carpeting / red upholstery decor. This place has been in business for several years, probably because it's the closest boliche to the InterContential Hotel.[/blue]
:x-mark: Unidentified Boliche 651 Viamonte (no name) Has a golden door (between Florida and Maipu)
[blue]Review by Lexton on 05-06-04: I was taken to this place by a grease-ball tout in Avenida Florida. I walked thru the door, turned around and left when the women started to approach me aggressively, because I didn't like the looks of the place. Later, I was told that Croupier (on Carlos Pelegrini), Azul Pub (on La Valle), and this place have the same owner.
It appears the procedure is the same in all. If you yield to the pressure and sit down with the women, drinks immediately appear for all, followed by security insisting that you pay for all. You must be careful going to any strange place alone. When you go thru the door, stop. Do not let anyone hustle you anywhere. When your eyes adjust, survey the scene. If there is too much pressure, leave immediately. NEVER sit down with a woman for any reason unless you have surveyed the place at least 10 minutes. If possible, talk only with men until you understand the situation. If you don't speak decent spanish, you really shouldn't go into unknown places at all, especially alone.[/blue]
:x-mark: Whiskeria 919 Corrientes (between Carlos Pelegrini and Suipacha)
[red]04-24-05 Apparently Closed[/red]
[blue]Review by Lexton on 05-06-04: This place has only the "Whiskeria" sign, with women touts in front. I was in this place once and left when the women tried to pressure me into sitting with them immediately. I was getting upset to the point of violence when they let go of me. But I think I was lucky to get away. Alboroto PM'd me that he was ripped off here some time back.

[blue]Review by Alboroto: Be careful at this place called "WHISKERIA". I was ripped of about US$60.00 in a matter of minutes. These ladies forced you to sit and as soon as you sit, the drinks come. I told them that I did not ordered drinks and they called the security guy and right away he told me I had to pay. Believe me it was very scary and was afraid of my well being, and had no choice by paying and the ladies did not wanted me to leave; however, I forced myself and left.[/blue]

[blue]Recently opened under new management after being closed for several years. The new owner is the former owner of Shampoo. A somewhat unusual combination of restaurant / disco / boliche. There are working girls in the club/disco area along with a lot of "regular" couples. [blue]Comments by Jackpot on 05-09-08: Several years ago I posted a AVOID notice on the board. Also, on the AP boliches, this shithole is mentioned as AVOID. Their game is to get you to sit down and order a drink and wait for the show. But, the show doesn't happen and they will stick for another drink. Plus the chicas are puke ugly. [blue]Comments by Andres on 06-20-05: Many people reported it as bad, kind of run-down place with a past glare of better times. I never heard anyone who really recommended it after its reopening on November 2004 (either local or visitor)[/blue]
Play Women #2 Bulnes 2772 (Palermo) (Bulnes & Libertator) 4804-8171 www.playwomen.com.ar
[blue]Another club just recently opened, utilizing the same name as the original Play Women club in Recoleta. No information as to wether this club is owned and/or operated by the same management as the original club, not that the management of the original club offered any noteworthy stellar customer services that would compel me to visit the new club.
I visited the club on a recent Friday night. They've employed the same doorman and bartender as the original club. They wanted me to buy a $20 peso drink ticket to enter, but quickly changed their mind as I turned to leave. 6 chicas, no customers, I left within 2 minutes. As I was leaving, the manager introduced himself as "Paulo" and invited me to stay, but I told him it was too dead for me. He advised me that in a "couple of weeks" that there would be many more chicas as they returned from vacation. We'll see.[/blue]

:ck-mark: Cocodrilo Gallo 1311 (at Paraguay) 4963-7195
[blue]This is an interesting alternative choice in clubs. It's not a boliche in that they don't control what girls work there, there aren't different prices for chica drinks, or any minimum drink purchase requirements to leave with a chica. It opens at approximately 11pm, but it's really an after-hours club that doesn't get started until 3-4am, and stays open until dawn. A sizeable number of girls and staff at the other boliches will go to Cocodrilo when they get off work, which means you can look for an unflux of girls after 5am.[/blue]
:x-mark: Habana VIP Cordoba 3399 (Cordoba & Billinghurst) 4963-2207
[blue]Despite outward appearances that this a boliche, the girls are there for drinks and conversation only, although they won't tell you that until you proposition them.[/blue]

Oro / Obsesión Oro 2280
[blue]Comments by Andres on 06-20-05: Oro 2282 is almost at the corner of Oro and Charcas, so I guess that it refers to the same club. It is worth a visit, but I heard that prices went a little up while chica quality didn't. Been so close to Recoleta and at most ar$10 the entrance, nothing terrible happens if going and being disappointed with the girls.[/blue]
