I Almost Went There Last Night.
Hoping to run into the legendary TL, I stopped by last night.
I ordered two burritos: one with shredded beef and the other with ground beef & potatoes. What's interesting is that the burrito did not come with either mexican rice and / or pinto bean filling. Anyway, the food was good and I ate everything up in a couple of minutes. Don't forget to order it spicy!
A quick review of their menu said that they also serve nachos, guacamole, quesidillas, and rellenos.
Cheers!
P. S. I just saw TL's number in the previous post. I think I'll just try to give him a call.
Sorry Dude!
I was in the hood but I was at the movies on Lavalle a few blocks away.
The Mechanic.Jason Statham. Good movie!
Anyway, feel free to call me and we can get together.
That goes for anybody that is in town.

Went there today. Excellent Tex Mex :.)
Gentlemen!
Went to El gato today after a bland casa session. (info in the non critic thread).
The food at El gato is really, really good.
I had different fajitas and burritos, and the spicy salsa was there as well in small plastic cups, so you can dosage just how much you want.
I like my food spicy (I eat Thaifood on an average 3-4 times a week) and everything at the plate was to please.
I talked to the Mexican girl who cook, and she starts at 8 am in the morning to prepare everything on the menu "day fresh". If you have ever experienced the horror of prefabricated factory guacamole, then you also know the taste of fresh made, advocado squashed ones. It's a different game. And this is the real thing.
The guy working in the restaurant was also a cool guy, and nice to chat with. Had enough beer and food to roll out of the door, so my only thing to add to this thread is: Try this small and genuine Tex Mex restaurant if you like genuine Tex Mex food. You will leave full and with a smile on your lips. Just as I did.
Best regards, Ken Apples
