He used the forum's PM system to send multiple copies of professionally written political "white papers", to which he would purport to be the author, to dozens of forum members with whom he had no prior communication.

These unsolicited spam PMs were an obvious indication of his true agenda.

Regarding El Alamo, before heading to Recoleta last night I stopped by here with the intention of having a light dinner and to give one of the board's advertisers some business. From what I could see through the door, the place was packed, but a gentleman at the door wanted 20 pesos entry fee to go inside. I think he mentioned it included a drink, but I just wanted to see a menu first and then order. I decided to go elsewhere. Is the 20 pesos fee standard here every night?

From what I understand the $ 20 pesos can be used as credit to your meal. I am pretty sure the fee is only at night. I was never charged $ 20 pesos when I went during the day.

The $20 pesos that is charged at the door at El Alamo is a minimum consumption fee and can be used to order anything on the menu whether it be food, drink, or any other product sold at the bar. On Thursday and Friday nights, the minimum consumption fee rises to $30 pesos for men and again can be used in its entirety to order anything on the menu. El Alamo accepts any hard currency at market rate in addition to Visa, Mastercard and Amex.

I'm sure all the regular posters now about El Alamo, but in case someone new reads this thread I thought I would write this.

I've been to El Alamo twice and both times have had absolutely great experiences. In my opinion the service is excellent. I went there to watch a televised soccer match between two obscure (from an Argentinian point of view) countries, and both times the staff let me occupy one of the screens even though I was the only one interested in the games and there were a bunch of college football games on at the same time at my first visit.

Oh, and I was never left with an empty bottle / glass. That's definitely appreciated while watching soccer.:-)

PS: I realize that I might look like a shill, but that's not the case. I just wanted to compliment a business that provides a service I couldn't find anywhere else in town, and at the same time does quite a good job.
