General Travel Plan Announcements

Just got back from USA and customs was very aggressive with inspecting luggage at EZE. The first thing they ask is; where are you from? Answer in English or act dumb & show your passport. They were tearing up Argies and a few tourists. The young guy in front of us had 2 digital cameras undeclared and because they were searching his bags the "table" was full, we went right through. I think if the inspection table had been empty we would have been tagged no matter what.

Final tip: this is second time I got in the line staffed by two 45-50 year old females. One is bleach blond, 5'9" ,140 lbs; the other more strawberry blond, short & heavy, glasses. They are the worst. Our line was absolutely the slowest because of their efforts. Hell, a couple of times the blond was working alone, scanned a bag and inspected the contents stopping the line completely.

Next time I will take a minute to see what line these two are working & adjust.

I come in and out of Ezeiza a couple of times a week. Yes, they have become very strict. Its also depends on the line. If the line is very long, you can be lucky and pass through.

The other day, I was alone passing through with a tiny trolley bag. And they inspected it as they saw a safety hand torch in my bag. And when the line is very long, they don't seem to care although the torch is in my bag every time.

Overall, I still feel Ezeiza customs are more linient thant customs of some other Latam countries.

But I always found the best line to get into was whatever one had a young guy working next to a pretty girl. I'm serious about this, they would always be more focused on slinging chamuyo at the mina than looking at my bags.

I've also found that at customs one simply can't be too yankee or too stupid. "No hablo espanolo signore.

I haven't gone through in a long time so this may no longer apply.

I should arrive at my apartment about 8:00 PM Thursday. Probably will limit my first night activities to Excedra as it is only three blocks away.

I cleared immigration, customs and got my suit case in about 15 minutes, that may not be a record but it sure was my best time by a longshot. By the time I got to my apartment and checked in all of the changers on Florida had called it a day so I had to wait until today to change dollars, got 9.3 for 500 at Turisimo Dalman. I couldn't log onto AP, when I tried it said thank you for logging on but I actually wasn't logged on so I reregistered as user Don HD. My ancient body is sore from the long flight so I probably just look in at Café Orleans in the afternoon and Exedra tonight, only 3 blocks from my apartment. If any of the AP members are there I'll be the oldest gringo in the place.

Greetings everyone! First, I wanted to thank everyone for such a fantastic source of information. You guys are a great help! Second, I am making my second trip to Buenos Aires July 12-21 and I was wondering if anyone else will be in town at the same time that would be able to meet up. My first mongering experience in BsAs in 2009 was a great success thanks to this board and I hoping this trip will be even better!

I'm going to BA for the first time, it has been high on my bucket list! I will be there July 31st for 7 nights.

I'm a 27 Navy veteran and spent a lot of time in SEA, Africa, and Australia. The last ten years, I've been exploring Central / South America. But I'm lagging in SA, only a couple of trips to Rio and one to Medellin.

My Spanish is improving, but still sucks; I work on it every weekend in Tijuana. On ISG, I do my best to write complete TRs; this site seems a bit different than ISG.

It would be great to meet a few of you BA vets; I'm always good for the first, second rounds. I have the maps printed, and I will be staying at Jackson's place.

I will get a sim card as soon as I'm able to, maybe at the airport?

One burning question: What will I be paying for taxi from and to the airport?

Hope to meet some of you vets.

TomJackin: As you exit Customs, on your left with be a booth called "Remis". Tell them you want to go to Jackson's address, and prepay with a credit card...They will process your card and hand you a reciept and ask you to walk around to the left (behind the cashier). A driver will meet you and take you to his car about 50 m in front of the terminal exit, along the left sidewalk. Have a good time.

Forgot about the return to EZE..I have reserved Remis for the return to the airport, but it is hit or miss if the driver will show up on time. There are tons of taxis that run in front of Jackson's door, and are easy and relatively inexpensive for the airport trip.

They can also arrange a taxi. The last time I took it, the bus was less than 1/3 the cost of a taxi. If you give them the address of your final destination they will put you in a car after you arrive in Centro and drop you off. I speak zero Spanish, so this will be an interesting experience. I'm looking forward to the trip.

I have been checking the forum since earlier this year when my trip to BA got postponed.

It's now happening next month and it will be my first, so rather excited.

I was hoping someone would be kind enough to offer some up to date advice on the club scene.

I have noticed in recent posts that a lot of places have closed and wondered what perhaps the top 5 places were currently, if I was to make the most of my chica hunting time?

Any guidance from some vets would be sincerely appreciated.

First off there are less than (5) places worth going to in BA for Chicas.

At least places that we normally frequent.

There are a LOT more if you have a sense of adventure but it's not worth it.

I've been monitoring the boards for the last few weeks, have learned a bit of info and I would say I feel more prepared. Still a bit of uncertainty as is the case with visiting any new country, but I am counting down the hours now to this trip. Staying in Recoleta area and looking to hit up anything and get as much experience with BA Chicas as I can. My first trip to Buenos Aires started a couple hours ago.

There was a short line at immigrations, and a very long one at aduanas (customs). I probably overpaid for a cab (TaxiEzeiza) and certainly overpaid for my hotel (Sheraton on Ave Cordoba ... US girlfriend was not happy with my idea of renting a room or apartment; otherwise would be at the AP House).

Haven't tracked a SIM card down yet, but always up for meeting and / or a couple of rounds of drinks. Understand a little bit of Spanish; can comfortably speak even less, but spoke just enough to get ripped off in Madrid.
