I have never posted to the BA board, or been there for that matter, but, much like you, have read this board with great enthusiasm and am locking down a trip before year's end. I sincerely applaud the efforts of people like Saint, drgn, Otto, jamesbond, hulk, starfe, etc. for their efforts to inform others of the fun-filled opportunities available in BA--we should all be extremely thankful to them and respect their already significant contributions. Anyway, and no offense intended here, I don't think it is the responsibility of others on this board to convince you as to the merits of BA vs. Rio vs. SP vs. whatever. All of the cities you mention have fairly active boards, with lots of great information, and thus should help you draw independent and fairly thorough conclusions. Others may disagree with me, and I will applaud their response and patience with your "sell me on BA" perspective, but one could perceive your post to be somewhat obnoxious. You may be better served asking more tightly defined questions that interest and/or concern you rather than keeping your questions/concerns entirely open-ended.

Thoughts on racism in Argentina......

I have had some interesting conversations with my favorita on this topic. She tells me there is a practical reason why many chicas are reluctant to see black men as clients: Fear of HIV/AIDS.

Many chicas know that black men from Africa, Haiti, and the Dominican Republic have very high rates of infection. They are also quite aware that among Americanos black men are more likely to have HIV than are whites, hispanics, or Asians.

Chicas are also aware that men from certain parts of Asia have high rates of infection and are hesitant to date Asian men other than those from China or Japan.

That is such a good link and story. If you go back to the archives from my first trip you will see that I mentioned black's are few and far between in Buenos Aires just like the reporter mentioned.

I know some dudes that are black that go down there now. I think they will be quick to tell you that they truly are looks of amazement. The people down there might stare because it's a rarity. One guy I was hanging with (he can post and tell you the story if he wants) was in a restaurant. This guy is a young guy that is fairly tall. Well... as they were eating in a restaurant a little girl started staring at him and pointing. She was talking in Spanish and apparently said..."look grandpa...it's that guy from TV". The little girl thought he was a movie star or someone famous..

I hung out with this dude for a few days and I never noticed any 'racism'. In restaurants, in the boliches, out in public. I did ask my chica friends if girls have any hesitation about leaving with black dudes. She said the only hesitation most have is because their darker clients have umm...larger you know whats. Ha, ha. These girls pray that every client is hung like a fly.

Also, I read what Ezy posted about Asian dudes. I also hung with Asian dudes and man...if they have any hesitation I sure didn't see it. In fact, they were tagging the hotties on the trips I was on. As I posted before, no matter what your skin color, ethnicity, religion, age, etc. I think any guy could score a good time in Buenos Aires.

I agree 100% with Fred Flintstone. If one isn't sold on going to BA for it's own merits than so be it. When I decided on a location...I did all my research, read all the posts, and then decided. I'm going to Rio for a week in January after my BA trip. I will post a detailed comparison once i return.

Lastly, remember that I'm a rookie when it comes to BA. There are guys that have been there way more times, maybe seen more girls, been to more places. I'm just a guy that can type fast and likes to share information. I'm certainly NO expert on BA. I just love it.

Some words about "racism" in Argentina:

1) White Argentines exert more discrimination to mildly dark skinned people than to dark black people.

As in many South American countries (such as Colombia), in Argentina the descents from Europeans make up the upper social class, while the lower classes are made up of a mixture of native South American blood mixed with European blood and/or black blood. That said, there is more racism based on income and cultural isues than on skin color.

When a mildly dark skinned man strolls a rich neighborhood in Buenos Aires, he elicits the same level of fear and awareness than an African American in a white neighborhood of any major metropolitan city in the US. Many think that he is there to rob or harm someone.

Truly blacks are rare in Argentina, specially after the Yellow Fever epidemics in the 1870s that killed most of the black population in Buenos Aires. When people see an African American in the streets of BA, they react as the 2 girls in the article that EZE_amante brought.

2) There is some evidence that Argentine "Racism" has to do more with income than any other reason. Usually, the people who show the most contempt to mildly dark skinned ones are police and military officers who have the same skin color (white police officers are less obsessive about this issue). It seems that they project the subliminal message "You are as poor and insignificant as I, so I can do whatever I want to you" instead of "I hate race mixing".

3) As many other Latin American countries, in which history is recent and institutions are weak, local have to build an identity from shallow ideas. One of these is "Argentina is the most European of all the Latin American countries". So we may overplay this role a little bit. Of course, when the country is in tatters, these ideas lose importance.

i frequent the non-pro spots as much as the well-mentioned places.

on my last trip in sep, i hit asia de cuba, one of the more trendy spots (restaurant & club), located in puerto madero. it was thursday night, supposedly the best night there, and we had vip access. i was way bummed. much too old crowd for me (next to none 20-30 year olds), and no hotties.

last november i hit bash, and while it had a fair crowd, i expected a lot more. later that night, we hit rivera este. it was perfect. tons of quantity with plenty of quality. the place is huge, so the crowd is huge. get there by 11:30 to avoid a monster queue.

another night we went to dinner in palermo hollywood. the section where there is a 4 blk strip or so of restaurants. i was not impressed. after, we went in the directtion of east and south (towards downtown but to driving right), into a section of town that most all mid-blks was all two-story old buildings (many abandoned) with bars on windows, but on each corner had 2-3 little bars (not clubs) with crowds spilling into the outdoors. there were young (20-to-under-thirty) girls everywhere.

i don't know the name of this neighborhood, but i'm sure someone will post a follow up. this is a great, low-key area in the non-winter.

buenos aires news was the bomb in it's day (over 4 yrs ago), but not anymore (imho). same for most of costanero spots other than rivera estes. ymmv.

Here is my 2 cents on racism in BA. As a brown skinned guy (non chinese, non Japanese), I did not face any of it. I was walking around in the wee hours (though only in Recolette) - sometimes with a hot blonde. I did not encounter any problem with the cops either. I never had any problem with the chicas (Yabba will attest to this !). My honest conclusion - skin color should not deter you from going to BA.

I'm in BA: December 20,21,22,23,24,25 and leaving for Rio on 26th returning to BA on January 2nd at night.

Octatron, several of the girls work at Playwoman. One was from Affaire, one was from Hook's. One from Black's and the rest from the internet sites.

Many of the regular places probably depend on the time of year you go. Asia de Cuba in May was jam packed with hottie model quality girls. When Leo went the weather was cold and ALL the clubs sucked in general. If you have "game" then just talk to normal girls. There's certainly no shortage of normal girls that wouldn't mind spending time with a nice American. My problem is I've met several normal chicas but can't get locked into spending time with them when there are so many "sure things". The problem with the normal chicas (much like everywhere else in the world) is that you gotta invest valuable time.

My theory is this. In the end, most guys (not all) have the ultimate goal of ending up in bed with a hot girl that we may be romancing. I'm not saying all but honestly guys....come on be honest. So, with so many sure things in the clubs and internet sites.. I'm not bothering with the normal girls. It was no fun having to tell lie after lie to the normal girls of why I couldn't spend time with them. If I lived there though I would definitely do/ date normal chicas but I'd still visit the clubs.

If your finances are limited maybe this is a better option for you. But why fly halfway across the continent to scrimp. I like real life examples... so I would equate it to someone that goes to the movie theatre but doesn't want to spend the money on drinks and popcorn and all the junk food. They try sneaking in their own food, water, sodas, etc. They want the experience of watching it on the big screen but try to scrimp a little. Yeah, you're experiencing the "real deal" but eating the buttery popcorn, drinking those big drinks and eating the candy is part of the experience. JMHO.

First Post.....Great Forum!!!!!!!

Went to BA last month with two friends and had a blast. What a great place. Even though we were there for only one night we enjoyed every minute. We only went to Solid Gold and had a very good time. We were there for about three hours and after a few Jonny Walker Blacks one of my friends even went on stage and danced some salsa with one of the chicas. The chicas probably ran up the tap because we ended paying about $200 USD. We figured this when the house gave us a free round after we payed the bill. At the end it was well spend, we had a good time.
The chica I hooked with was a solid 8. The two missing points she made up in attitude and experience. At the club we talked, hugged, and french kissed. After negotiating the price, about $70 USD for two hours, plus a $10 USD tip, we went to my hotel and WOW........ All I will say is this chica knows how to press the right buttons. Here are my two pence on BA :)

Racism: In matters of puntering/mongering, I doubt one will find problems in the clubs,Cafe's or internet-sites - it is all about a business transaction.

non-pro chicas: Yes it is possible - but takes time. Do not expect to score immediately - A few dates later yes. Just like any place else - or to pt it differently - It is like your own hometown :) The non-working girl chicas will also *not* appreciate your mongering/puntering habits.

Hotels: If you are on expense account, any international hotel chain where you reserve double will allow you to have guests(Ask if in doubt) Etoile Hotel does have special attraction since its value is in its proximity to many clubs etc.

Chicas: Many chicas (pre economic slump) did it part time - Even now there are many that do have other jobs - Treat them well, In BA specially I found them sweet,passionate and honest about what they want/need/think. Post slump, more are entering the field and doing it full time.

I met two non pro chicas, but then few years ago, I used to go to EZE every three months on two week assignment :) Now, I can stay for free in EZE if I wanted - at either's place -- but then no sampling :(

Food: Yes, Argentinian steak is the best - though folks at work think English Angus is still the best :) So enjoy inexpensive food at the parillas.

A year ago, the Uruguayan peso was 11-13 to 1 to the Argentine peso, so Uruguay is a little more expensive than Argentina nowadays.

Punta is usually a place for rich families and heavy social agendas. Perhaps I'm wrong, but not a place for mongering or bringing a cutie during the holidays.

My experience is that, regardless of the economic situation, most girls take off the holidays weeks to visit family and friends (between 12/20 and 1/7). You may find some girls this year, but not as many as during the year.

Respect to gemidos.com.ar, I went to a massage place and took a session with Marixa. She is as beutiful as in the webpage, and no enhancements. Classes start in March, so people return from holidays by the end of February. That said, the city should less crowded in February (slightly less due to recession). Perhaps, no major impact for hobbysts.

Also, during the Easter weekend (thursday thru Sunday) people run away from the city, so watch out when it falls next year so you don't hit the city by then.

My input on the racism thread (Sorry it took so long to post, but I've been busy since I got back):

I want to say this because this is something that must be considered when going to a foreign country to get "entertained".

I learned this after a visit to Montreal. My course of action, if on the phone, let them know up front that you're black\asian\whatever. "Soy un ****** negro. Es problema?" If it is....NEXT! That simple. There are plenty of chicas to choose from. If you're first choice has a problem with that, I can almost guarantee you'll find one that won't.

Also, if you're "packing heat" (you know what I mean), you should let them know that up front as well, whatever race you are. Cuts down on the disappointment ratio and the amount of time it takes to convince her that you'll go easy, heh heh.

While in BA, of the 3 internet chicas I saw, no real problems with the race factor. The majority of the ladies I saw were from bars (at least 6), and, obviously, they saw what the deal was right away.

Be up front about what you want, who you are, and what you're packing over the phone and you should have very little trouble.

From my experience, of course.

I visited B.A. in June and August of this year. Below are some comments and observations to some of the previous posts. I am not a regular on the board. So forgive me in advance for this long post. Also, I intend to do only this one post and I am doing it in appreciation of the previous posts from Saint, Otto and others that I read prior to going to B.A. The comments are strictly my opinions from a total of about 16 days in B.A. When I say some girl is an 8-9, I am comparing them to the girls that were working in Blacks and Play women in June. When I was in B.A. in August, I agree with Saint, the quality of the girls in the clubs have dropped considerably. I am not into the number of girls I can get. I am more into quality sessions. I won't discuss the normal bars (Blacks and Play Women) everyone goes to.

Working Bars

In August, one girl I met worked at and invited me to Blandish Club. Unfortunately, this girl recently left to work in Mexico City. Blandish is in Palermo collated with at least two other buildings that are regular dance clubs for the very young crowd. I noticed teenagers and maybe a 19-20 years old crowd going into the other bars. Blandish’ address is Av. Del Libertador 3883, Paseo de la Infanta tel: 4776-4244/4776-4499.

Blandish's management style is similar to Blacks. But, there is a tremendous difference with the girls. There were about 15 girls. The girls I saw that night were average looking, in the 20-24 year old range and down to earth. The entrance fee is 20 pesos. A drink for a girl was 25 pesos. I think the bar fee to take a girl out was 50 pesos (two drink minimum). I was the only gringo in the Blandish. But, I felt very comfortable. I talked to one of the best looking girls there. She was comparable to some of the best-looking girls at Blacks or Play women. She wanted 500 pesos for the whole night. She had previously worked as an escort in Miami and told me I was getting a bargain at 500 pesos. I politely declined her offer. Was she worth 500 pesos for the whole night? In my opinion, comparing her to the ladies in Blacks and Play women, most definitely. But, I had already made arrangements to meet another lady friend. I don't know if this is standard, but the club had its own limo driver that took me back to my hotel for whatever tip I wanted to give the driver.

In June and August, I visited a bar named Salomne. It is located on Cordova I think?. This bar is not Sordoma that's located in Recoleta. The bar is small and has two levels. There was no entrance fee. The men visiting the bar were primarily local professionals. In June there was a really nice group (mostly 7-8, a variety of ladies that would probably meet everyone's taste, real nice bodies, no fake breasts, but, only two I would rate as 9s) of about 20 girls. The girls were dressed in evening gowns or dressed like professionals working in an office environment. I took one girl out of this place for 100 pesos for two hours and there was a forty-peso bar fee (two drink minimum). The session was standard and she was not in a hurry to leave. In August, there were fewer (maybe 10) girls the weeknight I was there. As compared to June, the girls were mostly 7s. The place was packed with men, but it seemed like most of the men were just buying drinks for the girls that were working.

In both June and August, I visited Solid Gold. In June there were 5 or 6 really nice looking girls with great bodies that were comparable to the women of Play women and Blacks. Three of the waitress looked better than most of the girls. But, all three had boyfriends and did not date on the side. I think I paid 200 pesos for a working girl for about three hours. In response to some comments about prostitution being illegal. When the girl and I were ready to leave, we had to wait for at least an hour because the police was in the club checking the girls’ identifications. None of the guys were bothered. I was told the club owners tout the club as just a drinking and show club. And that the working girls do not officially go with customers for money. That was one the reasons this club and others have mini tango and cabaret shows. But, the police thought the place was hiring underage girls from Romania or one of the previous Eastern Bloc countries. There was definitely at least two girls from Romania working as waitress. My luck was flat out bad going thought the Internet websites. I used primarily Platynum and Area-VIP. Most ladies wanted 150 pesos for the hour. Maybe I am too demanding. But, the ladies I invited to the apartment look considerably different from their photos. In my view, the photos and ladies in person were nowhere close. For example, this Barbara is probably at least 35 which doesn't bother me, looked at least 15 pounds heavier than her photos and you could smell the smoke from the clothes she was wearing at least five feet away. I gave her a tip to leave. Another Internet girl goes by the name Faby. Fat face, speaks English well, a pretty good sense of humor, but overweight. Wasn't my type and she sensed it immediately. I guess Faby has three or four other girls working with or for her in the Recoleta area. Faby was determined to get me with one of her girls. After her visit, she sent at least four other girls for my review uninvited. Even lowering my normal quality standards, I rejected all four girls. Another Internet darling, Indiana is much older than her photos. Indiana came into the apartment, went immediately to the bathroom, let me watch her piss, I guess this was supposed to turn me on, said she had to make it fast because she had to go to school or something like that, but the next time we would take it slow and easy and she would give me a discount. I said lets just wait until next time and showed her the door. I saw a girl named Catherine from Area-VIP. She is a college student, says 23 but I thing more like 27, speaks French, a cool young lady. Thought I was too serious. I didn't bother telling her about my other Internet experiences. It was an ok session. But, she was got at least 3 telephone pages. She had another appointment immediately after me. Said we could get together after work if I wanted to, like about 12 midnight, she wanted to work on relaxing me. Didn't take her up on the offer.

French Street

Visited June and August. For me this is a good daytime place to go to in the Recoleta area. I really like the hostess, Miriam. She is sincere and honest. For example, I asked Miriam why the girls didn't charge 150 pesos per hour as the minimum like the Internet girls. The French Street rate was 100-200 pesos per hour, depending on what you want. Miriam told me that just because someone calls on the phone speaking English or comes from the U.S., that doesn't mean they should be charged a different rate from a local guy. When I mentioned I was maybe interested in moving to B.A. in the future and looking into buying an apartment or home, Miriam said she used to work in mortgage banking. Miriam provided me with a website address that she and her family bought their home through where you work with the owner directly and reduce some of the fees. I don't have the website address because I decided to wait and make sure I wasn't thinking with the wrong head. I talked to Miriam a couple of times and now French Street has its own website. Generally, there are six girls working thoughout the day. Miriam believes in discretion, especially given the location, so she wants you to call. The number is 4825-9370. Presently, the girls working at French Street are Belen, Carola, Samanta, Celeste and Luciana. Can they for the most part, rate lookwise with the girls we see at Blacks or Play Women? No! But, like I said I am really into quality sessions and this in my opinion is a good daytime place in the Recoleta area.

Other I took time and talked to the after hour security guard and night receptionists in one hotel I stayed in. This was the 11pm shift. One night I brought in a lady. The receptionist mentioned he could get me someone better than that. I laughed and said be my guest. If I like her, you get a tip. He gave a description of some of the ladies he knew were working. And I chose the one I wanted to visited me. He assured me there was no obligation to take her if I didn't like her. The guy sent on two occasions really nice ladies that was comparable to the ladies of Blacks and Play Women for 150 pesos for the hour. Unfortunately, the guy doesn't want his name given out. But, according to this guy there are a group of ladies that work though hotel night shift receptionists. I didn't really explore the comments any further. But recommend someone get to know some of the various hotel night shift folks so we can find out what is going on.

When I first went to B.A. I was somewhat put off with the girls working in the club. Regardless of what I thought was agreed to, the girls generally stayed two hours at the most. My second visit some of same girls seemed more flexible and not a business like. I had a discussion with a few girls about there approach. I don't know if any of this is true. But a couple of girls from different bars provided similar comments. A girl at Play Women told me (depending on the time and how productive the girl is for the club-make money off of drinks and how many men desire her company) certain girls are pressured by management to make a date and get back to the bar as soon as possible. This helps the club make more money on the drinks and exit fees. This girl said the more popular girls have regular customers that come to the club at specific times and nights for them. According to her, it's not good business to abandon their regulars because most girls do not expect to be with us gringos more than one time. Also, the girl said some of the girls have a young child or still stay with their families. They must get home at a certain time, unless arrangements are made well in advance. Her comment was "Imagine paying a baby-sitter or have a family member take care of your child for the night because this guy you met in the club promises to come and get you, take you out to dinner, and spend the whole night together. But, the guy never shows up." According to her, it happens often. I guess I would have to plead guilty to that charge once myself, because I was to meet a lady at the apartment before she went to work at the club and she promised to spend the whole night. I was taking care of business elsewhere and showed up an hour late. When I did show, I was informed this beautiful lady had come and left. The receptionist thought I was nuts for not waiting for this lady. Quite frankly, I did not think the lady would show up. We never know, do we. Two ladies did inform me that during December through February, the ladies working the club have more flexibility with management because there are more ladies working in the clubs. This allows some ladies to take time off and if they meet some guy they click with and trust the ladies will travel with them on a mini vacation.

On the way back to the states, I met a lady working in an embassy in B.A. I mentioned I was interested in buying a home in B.A. in the future. Her comments were make sure I use a lawyer. This wasn't her area of expertise, but she feels Argentina must find a way to raise money. One good way would be property taxes. The banks are carrying a lot of bad home loans. If in the future the banks are allowed to foreclose on property, this could drive home prices down. But, someone with cash dollars should be able to find some great bargains in the future. Please, realize the comments were her off the record opinions, not the views of the embassy she worked for.

I gotta give you a big "thata boy" for your post. Thanks for the very nice words. I can tell your a guy that likes his privacy and doesn't really like to post... so it was especially nice to read about your experiences.

I can also tell that you tell it like it is. I don't like BS'ers on this or any other board. I like hearing about the bad as well as the good.

I have a good friend that is in Buenos Aires right now. I just got done talking to him. It was funny because I had not talked to him since he arrived last week. One of my amigas from the clubs told me she ran into him last night and told me the name of the girl he left with. So today...first thing I say, "How was Arecili?". LOL. He laughed and accused me of having spies everywhere... Ha, ha.

Anyway, he says that Playwoman and Black's have picked back up some since early September. He reported that Ness, Cattos, Solid Gold, and almost all of the other clubs still are not as good as previous times. He is trying to convince me to come back down the last weekend in October/beginning of November. Work is very busy and I'll see him Thanksgiving weekend but I'm weak. I'm gonna try to hold out as long as I can.
