I'm planning a trip in October and it would be nice to have a local gathering place to meet up with like minded mongers plus the local talent to choose from. Ah the good old days.
I last visited the place in 2004/2005? And found the place to be without much space. Hopefully, when remodeling is completed, there will be more room.

If Pereira Rafael Aragon, owner of Rond Point, Violets and the Café de los Angelitos, paid $1,300,000 US dollars for Exedra, and is a restaurant/club owner, it would be strange to open a Pharmacity Pharmacy.
Maybe the government is screwing him, and not letting him open up. This is strange news if it's true.

He told me that Cafe Excedra was bought by Argentine "Narco" money. That they don't give a shit about the place and their only purpose was to laundar drug money into hard assets.

I almost laughed when first I read the English wording of the following quote, followed up by reading it in Spanish.:

The first, the translation, says she worked as a prostitute for 35 years at Exedra. That would make her a bit old, and a worn out rag to boot. I immediately thought of the droopy-eyed elder lady with blond hair, kind of mousy looking, big butt / thighs. Crooked teeth and tried to sit and have a conversation. Assuming she was 18 when she started, she would be about 53. Seemed like the right age.
The second, the original Spanish, means that she was 35 years old and had worked "for years" (I. E. An indeterminate number) at Exedra. I then thought of a younger milfish woman, blonde, not a bad rack and body, but a little thick maybe. Not terribly pretty but not bad. I don't know anything of her services, but a completely different image appeared of possible chicas who could be Vannina from Exedra that I could remember, right or wrong.
The translation idiomically (is that a word? It should be, though never voiced out loud I think, only written) would be closer to:
"It's a huge downer for us," complained Vannina, a thirty-five year old prostitute who worked "for years" in the bar."

Looks like guys hanging false ceilings and a / c ducts, sheetrock, etc.
Anyway, I walked in there and they have moved the bathrooms to the basement and they have built a smoking area so I have to believe that it will NOT be a pharmacy.
It does not make any sense but these guys down here RARELY make business sense!
There is a huge Pharmacy chain accross the street on Lima and Cordoba so stranger things have happened.
Again, the shoe-shine guy tells me that it will open in March.

Passed by Exedra today. There were workers laying down new tiles on the sidewalk, on a Sunday no less. Part of barricade surrounding the store was opened and probably more workers were working inside. Re-doing the sidewalk might mean they are planning to have some outdoor facility like tables in the past, who konws.

Passed by there again after dinner on Sunday night, all the workers had called it quit for the day. Half the barricade has come down, the whole side along Carlos Pellegrini. One window was not covered. I noticed the whole inside is still completely gutted out without any fixture what so ever. So still can't what it will be when and if it reopens. May be Exon noticed more inside when he passed by there on Monday.
What I saw was the interstructure was about done.
Nothing left but fixtures and cosmetic stuff.

But, overall really good news. They have done more the past week than they have in a year.

The location and size of this place makes for an ideal Starbucks puteria. (unless management actively discourages this and that should not be an easy task) The chain has a good bit of appeal to Argies as demonstrated by the one on Callao near Viamonte. The business model in the US seems to be catering to the self employed independent contractor. Just leave out the lap top and smart phone and which profession will flock to this place more in pursuit of locals and tourists in microcentro? My problem with Exedra was that I never went late and rarely saw a chica worth chatting up. Switching to Starbucks may provide an image shift that many more chicas may find appealing.
From the early days ('91) when you had to mail order it. I also like some of the sweets that they sell. But I would really, really like Starbucks if you could grab a cup of coffee and a 'tart' to go.
