The script is not an artifical intelligence program. It simply corrects a number of common writing mistakes so that I don't have to do them manually, that's all. For example, I no longer have to capitalize the pronoun "I" 60 times a day like I once did, and I no longer have to put a space after a period at the end of a sentence like I did 50 times a day, etc.

You guys want to pick on the script's anomalies, but the fact is that it has reduced my bulk editing time by 90%. Conservatively, it saves me an hour a day of my time, and I value my time.

Of course, I still have to review and edit reports, which is where I'll still catch things like "-Y- the cure is worse than the disease. Cuz -.....even dum peeple kan stil git arund et purty gud....-" and change it to "Why, the cure is worse than the disease because even dum peeple kan stil git arund et purty gud."

BTW, I've never even attempted to correct spelling or grammer. The only thing I've ever asked for was correct capitalization and punctuation, so everyone still has plenty of opportunity to make themselves look like a idiot.

Well I'm sure that the capitalization errors are very aggravating to you. Perhaps if there was a character that you could put in before the uncaptialized letter, then we could get around it without annoying you too much. Such as, I paid her $120-US- dollars for the 15 minutes in her room. -Y- nada mas!

Actually, all you need to do is write $US, or USD, or anything except a single "u" all by itself or next to a symbol.

For example:

$U or $U. or $U.S. will be edited.

$US, or USD will not be edited.

I bitched about this too but it is a work in progress and Jackson is addressing the issues that come up; for example, I complained that I could not use HTML to [b]bold[/b], [i]italicize[/i], and [u]underline[/u] and that seems to be corrected.

I wonder what the software does to Nibu's posts.

In the programmer's world, VB would generally refer to Visual Basic. However, in this instance, VB it refers to vBulletin, the publishers of the software that runs the Forum, and VB Code specifically refers to the unique codes that vBulletin has incorporated into it's programming to allow posters to add limited formatting to their text without using standard HTML tags.

Is there an effective way to log out of the WSG? I always use public computers and several times upon bringing up the ArgentinaPrivate site I see that someone has been here before me, and I am already logged in as that user. At least once (I always use the same net cafe) I saw that I was already logged in - I must have used that same computer earlier in the day. This is not good as many of us put more personal info in PMs such as names, tel numbers, etc. I've tried logging out and it doesnt always work.

All you are doing is deleting cookie. If the logout button does not work you can always go to IE options and delete all the cookies on the PC but that may screw up the Internet Locutorio.

I noticed today when I click on a page on this site, it could not finish loading the page and got hung up trying to load an image from image. Masterstat. Com until it times out. I used both IE and Netscape web browsers, same thing happened to both. Is the problem on my end?

Make sure you uncheck the box "Remember me" while initially logging in. That way, even if you forget to log out when your session is up in a public locutorio, you will be automatically signed off from the server once you close the browser. I normally don't delete the cookies, but I do delete the history page every time I use a public computer.

Jackson, why am I allowed to view Argentina Private pics for free but not Brazil pics?

I used to be able to view all the pics free when I was using DownBA. The reason I'm not using the old moniker is that I dropped my old email address associated with DownBA and then lost my password. So I figured the best way to get back to being able to view the pics would be to resurrect DownBA with DownBA2. Can you help me reset DownBA so I can drop DownBA2?

Are there any other pics that I'm able to view except Argentina Private pics?

That is one of the great things about being an American (from the USA as opposed to the continents) it is called freedom, you don't have to like it and while you may find his use of a former presidents name in poor taste or disrepectful, it is of little consequence. Personally, I found the fact that over 2000 of my fellow countrymen have been killed because of a big lie and an out of control ego, offensive. An economy that is struggling to fund all of the social, defensive, and "sercurity" programs that are currently in place, offensive, but it is part of the thing we hold most dear. Freedom. That freedom also gives us the ability to do really DUMB things as well as accomplish what many others have failed to accomplish.

All I can tell you is enjoy the food, the wine, and the ladies in Argentina, and enjoy the fact your birthright gives you the freedoms you have.

I think that I should write to you and thank for maintaining this site. I cam across it by surfing the web looking for information on "restaurants- Buenos Aires". My wife and I are coming for a two week visit in March and I have visited your site so much, that I am listed as the most frequent visitor.

Not only the information on restaurants but also on money matters and taxis has been most helpful. The rest of my reading of your site has been for vicarious pleasure since I have now attained the ripe old age of 80.

I will post again once I have returned from our visit to your wonderful city. We spent three days in BA back in the late 90's, having come from a visit to our children who were posted to Ascuncion for five years. I am looking forward to dining at 1/3 of the cost.

In Argentina, ie. Time in arg = 18:40

Time on screen = 14:40

Is this differential true for ALL times posted?

Dear Jackson.

I think it would be beneficial to the forum if we started a zero tolerance policy concerning flames. The level of interaction on this board has deteriorated into complete shit. Culprits include easy go, Hunt99, Papa Benito, Dirk Diggler, Moore, JustMoi, Doggboy, Marak5, Thomaso, Exon123, Dickhead, and many others. We have one common goal but the constant bickering and fighting has gotten out of control.

On top of that, we don't have one single report from the past 3 months. We have members living in Argentina, or spending months there at a time, or traveling there every 2 months. Where the fuck are their reports? Many of these members are the first to flame or dole out advice and play the expert, but they are adding little overall value to this site. What is the point of even having this forum if no one is even reporting?

This forum has turned into a place where people come to take out personal angst rather than post any useful information on Argentina. Everyone here believes they are the smartest, most clever, most intelligent poster, biggest expert on argentina, and the list goes on and on. The egos on this site are intolerable at this point in time.

Please restore order and civility to argentinaprivate.

Asking Jackson to "restore order and civility to argentinaprivate" is a typical response to a perceived problem, and is not the way to correct it. The "we need to pass a law" mentality seldom solves anything!

The anonymity of the forum seems to encourage a certain level of foolishness, but the correct response, IMHO, is to not pick up the gauntlet and just ignore it. Nothing stops a flame war faster then not responding to it.

You, Marak, have been one of the major culprits in this, without the seniority of Hunt99, Thomaso, Dickhead or Exon to tempt me to overlook it. Those guys have been here a long time, and have contributed a great deal of information to the "community" - you have not. We all existed here with reasonable tranquility for many years, and frankly I think most of us feel that newbies, for the most part, are to be "seen and not heard" until they have established that they:

A) Are capable of reading a little before they ask questions that have already been answered.

B) Have something to offer, either by being worth knowing or know something worth sharing.

and

C) Have the ability to enter the pool without splashing everybody, and promise not to piss in it afterwards!

Next time you feel your ego being tweaked, just wait a day before you respond, and then only if there is some reason to respond at all.

This is advice I try to follow (admittedly with more success sometimes then other times)

I have posted information on local transportation, immigration, residence requirements, property rental and purchase, parties at the mansion, politics, inflation, safety, scams, economics, negotiating with chicas and clubs, etc. I do not post about restaurants because I am not a gourmet and just want good basic food which you can get almost anywhere. I do not post information about sexual exploits because there is plenty of that in the forum.

But if you insist:

I went to a club where girls will have sex with you for money. I saw a girl who interested me. I made a reasonable offer for her services and she had sex with me. It was good sex because I treated her like a lady. Later I went to a local parilla and had a good steak dinner for 20 pesos.

Later.

As promised, I would like to report that our visit to BA was all that we had hoped for in every way. The city was beautiful, the restaurants were excellent and inexpensive by our standards, the people were friendly when you met them but were aggressive in walking along the street or entering stores, not unlike New York.

I crammed Spanish for three months but I was hardly conversational and it surprised me how little English is spoken by the people you meet in stores or restaurants. You definitely need to know some to enjoy your visit.

I used Oleo Guia to research restaurants that locals recommended and was not disappointed in any of them. At Puerto Madero, we went to Lilas and enjoyued sitting out on the terrace but I still think that the beef in the USA is as good but it may be because the butchering is different. Also went to La Bisteca for an excellent buffet, well patronized by the Portenos. We had no problem finding food to eat other than beef.

We used taxis all the time, mainly radio cabs and had no problems with the passing of currency and only had two instances where they tried me on for size in taking the long way around and when told, they backed off and adjusted the charge.

We rented an apartment in Barrio Norte and found the area beautiful and close enough to walk into El Centro but far enough away to be out of the hustle and bustle.

At no time did we feel threatened but we were not walking around in the wee hours of the morning. Although the temperatures were in the low 20's, as ex Canadians, we found it a little humid for us.

Went to visit an estancia and it is a must for a tourist and took the Tren de Costa to El Tigre and had a most enjoyable lunch overlooking the river at Maria Lujan's. A little expensive (160 pesos for two) but worth it.

It was nice, as a retired person, to go every place to eat and not be concerned about the cost. Enjoyed an afternoon English tea at Claridges. Order one English tea with and extra tea for about 30 pesos. More than enough sandwiches and cakes for two.

The Rabellais on Libertad was a very good French restaurant.

Shopped for Leather up on Murillo and had a made to measure chamois windbreaker made for 650 pesos at 677 Murillo.

All in all a great two week visit and thanks to your site for research. Now I hope to drop off your most frequent visitor list.

Jackson, you have quite charitably established special "Nibu Raphael" threads both here and on ISG wherein this poster can post his usually-indecipherable babbling to his heart's content. It now appears that his posts are spreading out through the length and width of AP. Isn't it time to confine the jibberish back to the single thread you created for him, where our cognitively- and gramatically-challenged friend won't pose a threat to anybody other than himself?
