Alba from Dom Rep, avoid!
All seemed fine at the club with this girl, she seemed very sweet and just plain nice. Once back at my place it was a very different matter. Stated if I wanted her to take her clothes off and have sex with her it was 50 extra pesos. Seems the 170 we negotiated at the boliche was strictly for a covered bj (bbbj was agreed to by her at the bar) and anything extra, removing any of her clothes, sex etc. Was an upcharge. This was after about 10 minutes at my place. I got dressed and took her back to the club and reported my dissatisfaction to the manager. If this is done by any more victims hopefully she won't be working there much longer. She has a beautuful smile, wears all red jacket and pants to leave the bar, and is from the Dominican Republic. She is not small, about 1.7 meters and probably weighs close to 60 kilos. Avoid if possible, if you are burned by her make sure to report her to the management.
Low talent pool in Hook's lately.
My wingman and I went thru the clubs in The Triangle and found Hook's talent pool very low. We only found 3 chicas in the building we considered doable. I had done 2 of them and he had done the other. We will return on our frequent tours thru the triangle. Maybe the rest of the talent had already been scooped up by the time we got there around 1am. I will follow-up with more posts later.
Coach
I Avoid Hook, and its Doorman
I used to enjoy going to Hook to drink with friends. They often have an unusually good looking batch of young women there, and I have met some great women in there. I am, however, done with the place, at least unless and until a string of reports confirms a real change in attitude. Here is why:
On one occasion, I thought a chica was trying to pickpocket me. She was leaning and touching too much and her hands kept moving, in a non-romantic manner. She did not respond to requests to stop. I jumped on stage to get away from her. (Sorry guys, I did not dance) I reported it to those in charge, and they appeared to not care at all. Nothing like this has happened to me in any other club.
Then there are the reports of others. I have heard other stories as to counterfeit bills being given in change at Hook, and many reports of shorting guys on change. I also have heard credible guys report an incident in which one guy was charged for drinks that his friends (who had left by then) had already paid for, rather aggressively. When confronted the next day, Hook management apparently blamed the waiter, and did nothing to make him cough up the money involved or otherwise make it good to long time customers.
As to Roberto, I have never liked him much. He is gruff. He more or less demands tips if you leave with someone. Such tipping is expected, for foreigners, and practically mandatory if you take a cab. But he became too aggressive once when not receiving a tip, throwing open the cab door back open so that I had to get out and close it, etc. (I had no small bills on me, a mistake). He was really in my face, with that attitude he has, and I had often tipped him despite not liking him much. That was about a year ago.
Months later, I had the exact same experience as just reported by Thor183 (being told off by Roberto in an unpleasant manner after twice entering and looking for someone who was not there). This time I did not put up with it. I went back in, found the manager, and informed him that Roberto is aggressive with foreigners and demands tips and that people avoid Hook because of this aggressive attitude. (Exon, I was telling the truth, and had you in mind but of course did not identify you). I do not know if this had any impact at all, even short term. Apparently it did not help much.
They have the right to limit you to no more than one "look-see" or "no drink" entry, and I can see why they would do so, but they can be a lot more polite in the process.
In total, I have had three unpleasant experiences in Hook. That is a small number compared to the many times I had no problem, but large compared to no problems at all in Cattos, Nice or Pipper's Pub nearby, or Cutty and Jaz rather close by. I have heard others report generally the same. I have not gone back since the last problem.
I do NOT think this is a dangerous place, like Rouge. It is not at all a full-on rip off place, like those immediate-chica-drinks-you-didn't-order places near Excedra. But one should be careful in Hook, and you might decide to favor Cattos and Ness when in the triangle. "Ojito."
Anyone know Roberto's secret to staying employed? Is he someone's cousin? Or maybe they think he controls the door well.
