Went two days later at around 10:30 pm. It seemed much busier. I was given a smaller room and had to shower down the hall, the shower had run out of hot water which made even more challenging. I was at Esmeralda 517, 1B today at about 4pm.
Unlike others, I found the girls at the desk quite pleasant. I do speak spanish, but they initially communicated with me in English.

On my first trip to BA I did not know that this board existed. I learned about this fantastic site before my second trip to BA. You can bet that I took the time to study up on past experiences of members. Esmeralda VIP was recommended by a fellow monger while in BA. I actually went to act as a wing man for a pal. You can bet that I do not patronize any place with bad reviews from the board. I do not waste the time I have in BA. Please take the time to study the board before you hit the streets. Guys put up the information to help you have a good time. So I find it sad when someone has a sorry experience. This won't be of any help to the guys who live in Argentina or to those who like to go to clubs. But it might be helpful to the guy, especially the guy over 50, who is thinking of making the trip or who is the occasional visitor, like me. But on prior trips I found great chicas at 921 Suipacha, a place in Recoleta that is now closed (I think) and at Cielo Private Larrea 1072. Quality can change a great deal from year to year, so you have to be flexible at the beginning of every trip. WorldTravel69's extensive list of privados is essential – it is a national treasure. Sometimes a poster will identify another good place that is not on WT69's great list.
I go through WT69's list looking for three things: a) places that have a lot of chicas; be) places with relatively high cost (not that I want to pay a lot – I'll explain below); and c) places nearby. I always rent a little apartment in the Microcenter because the highest density of privados is around Suipacha (from Santa Fe to Corrientes and beyond) and I use the money not spent on a hotel for the chicas.
On this trip 517 Esmerelda 1b became my little paradise. It was the fourth place I went to on this trip, and I did not go to any other after my first visit. Maybe the biggest advantage of going to upscale privados is that the chicas tend to be the regular pretty girls you see shopping at malls and going to the movies with friends. Every chica I saw at 517 on this trip claimed to be from Buenos Aires, not from Paraguay, Brazil, or whatever. Given that there are so many privados in this town, the chica is much less likely to encounter her brother or uncle Lorenzo or a boy from her neighborhood than she would in a nearly public place like a club, where there are lots of gawkers, or in a low-end privado where her working-class kin and neighbors might go. Another advantage of privados is that you are much less likely to be seen and identified by others if you have some kind of temporary job in Buenos Aires, especially if the job involves interactions with middle-class women.
I'm not saying that this could have happened at 517, but the privado chica who likes you might well provide a phone number for future dates at your apartment, at a reasonable cost. Offer to make her dinner or serve take-out, and you might have the time of your life.
