Ha, ha. Great! Yeah, if you stick with the CD's you can learn alot. I shopped around a while and Pimsleur seemed to be the best option. (Jackson, sorry if these are off topic). Feel free to delete.
Ibiza, some dudes are selling the courses for very expensive. What some guys do is buy the cassette or CD's then copy them then sell the original. Some sell boot leg copies. Of course this is illegal. Yet other guys provide the cd's for free and only charge for shipping them, etc. There are guys out there that want to help guys learn. Some guy offered me a URL for free where I could download all 90 lessons but it was EXTREMELY slow even on a fast T1 connection. (My time was too valuable and I just bought them...it was easier). I gave up after trying to download just one lesson. He told me not to give out the link so I'm not.
Or as I mentioned, if you live in a big city go to your local library. Most have at least the first set (30 lessons) for free to check out. I started out that way and liked it so much I bought the entire 90 lesson set. (I also bought Portuguese). This way you can try it and see if you like it and you don't have to pay anything. I wouldn't spend hundreds of dollars on this again. No need to spend more than $75 US on all 90 lessons. Like I said...there are plenty of options for getting all of them for very cheap. Yes, I'm going to BA tomorrow for 7 days then I'm flying to Rio for 8 glorious days. I'm trying to extend my trip in Rio for 4 or 5 more days for a total of 13 days and I'm heading to BA after my Rio trip for a few more days. I tried extending but now they want a ton of money. I'm interested in seeing how I'll like Rio. I'll post an in-depth comparison when I return.

Although I'm solidly a BA fanatic I have to admit Rio is a serious contender to BA as the monger capital of the world (or at least Latin World). They're both great but in different ways.

Things are going well with Barbie,(AKA Pamela). She speaks more english, than I do Spanish. I talked to her yesterday on the phone, and what a great lady. I have been in Thailand many times and recently spent 9 days in BA. It is very difficult to compare two places, because of their totally divergent geographical locations, including women.
If you are interested in latin women, hop in a plane and go to BA. In BA, it is basically club based actions, just like go go bars in Nana Plaza or Patpong, but offer you 10 fold higher quality entertainment. In addition, internet based escort scenes are highly developed in BA. Freelancing, although exists in BA, it pales in comparision to Thailand.
If you are interested in Asian women, look no further- Thailand should be your premier destination. Also, no place on earth has perfected the massage parlor scene as does Thailand. Back home.
Left BA on Sunday afternoon. In the end, did not do much Sunday. Went to Caife Saigon. There was about 15 chicas. Only a couple were OK. So, I did nothing. Good to know, though, that it operates on Sunday afternoons.
Passed in front of Hook and Cattos, and as expected were closed.

She's afraid of what would happen if one of her family members or friends would think if they saw her on an internet escort service website. Argentine Protesters Rally In Capital; Demand Jobs, Foods
BUENOS AIRES (AP)--Thousands of Argentines demanding jobs and food for the unemployed marched through the capital Thursday, nearly one year after economic upheaval pushed the country into its worst-ever financial crisis.
The street protests kicked off two days of demonstrations timed to coincide with the one-year anniversary of the fall of former President Fernando de la Rua, whose resignation last Dec. 20 plunged the country into economic turmoil.
Hundreds of protesters gathered outside symbols of the country's prolonged economic crisis, demonstrating in front of banks, Argentina's Central Bank and the Buenos Aires stock market.
"We're worse off with each passing day," said Julio Cesar Avellaneda, 34, now unemployed for three years. "Our politicians don't recognize that and aren't doing anything to change it."
After a painful devaluation and debt default, Argentina has struggled to emerge from the economic doldrums. One out of every five Argentines is unemployed and the peso's value has plunged 70% against the U.S. dollar.
Worried the protests could ignite tensions, the government ordered police to stand guard at supermarkets and key intersections as part of security measures aimed at preventing a repeat of the looting and violence that swept Argentina last December and forced de la Rua from office.
At least 27 people died in three days of bloody protests and looting that swept Argentina last year as South America's second-largest economy unraveled amid a four-year recession.
The unrest prompted a revolving door of five presidents in two weeks and forced Argentina to default on its $141 billion dollar debt, leaving the country an international pariah.
Waving Argentine flags and shouting anti-government slogans, long columns of protesters descended Friday afternoon on the Plaza de Mayo, the site of last year's demonstrations and hundreds of smaller ones since.
"Nothing in this country has improved," said student Valeria Molina, 20, as she joined in the protest.
At the plaza, police stood behind iron barricades, keeping a distance from protesters outside the Government House, where President Eduardo Duhalde has his office.
Blocks away, dozens of protesters scrawled spray-painted messages of " Thieves! Robbers! Assassins!" on bank facades. "Throw them all out!" demonstrators shouted - a popular protest chant coined during protests a year ago.
Black smoke billowed from burning tires as protesters fanned out across one the city's main boulevards, unfurling banners that read "No more exclusion, unemployment, hunger and repression."

You can have many girls for whole night (about 8-10 hrs depending on your charisma) for 300 Peso (about 80 USD). Then again some girls from "Black" will charge you that amount for an hour. If you stick to the downtown clubs, like Hook, Ness etc., you will get more for your buck. Recoleta area tends to be little expensive and "Black" is altogether different animal. Also, you must add on the other expenses, like girl's drinks , entrance fee etc., when you take out a girl from the clubs ( like bar fine in Thailand). In Black, it might cost you easily 200 Peso. By the way, I forgot to mention that massage parlor in its true sense (like fishbowl full of 100+ girls) do not exist in BA. There are some brothels, but number of girls are very limited.

Ok. More on yesterday. I went to the Brazillian embassey to get my 5 year visa (I'm heading there after this trip for 8 days). All goes well but they send me to a BA bank to pay the 401 pesos. Well, I just got into town earlier that day. I did NOT have time to change my cash into pesos. I waited in line 30 minutes then they would NOT take Dollars. Their ATM's were not working. I walked around a 10 block radius. No other ATM's or casa de cambio's. Unbelieveable. No protesting at all. All those that made a big fuss about it were predictably wrong.
As I mentioned before. I was here during the bank closures in May. Even then it wasn't bad. I think that is the worst of it. Come down with no worries. It's paradise.
Anyway, I get my cable and internet installed which was a hassle. My spanish is decent but when the guys talked about drilling holes in the wall, I got Mayri on the phone to help. They didn't want to put the connection where I wanted it. I told them if they could do it without making tons of holes in my wall I'd give them 100 pesos. Of course they figured it out. In the meantime, my amiga from the clubs calls and wants to check out my new place. She comes over and loves it! Small world. We ended up having the same cable guy! Ha, ha.
American lost my luggage and delivered it LATE. I'm glad to have my stuff but I'm missing several clothes including a $500 Armani jacket. :( I'm not sure what recourse I have. The # they gave me no one answers. Oh well. I'm happy to be here.
It was good hooking up with Jackson again last night. We had a good time. It wasn't too late of a night. I think I was back at my place by 1:45 AM which is early by BA standards. Latest update. It's 5:30 PM here and just got back from shopping all day for stuff for my apartment. Man, the weather is nice. It's usually much hotter this time of year I'm told but the weather is perfect. Not a cloud in the sky and in the 80's. Tons of hotties everywhere. Some guys said it is slower this time of year but you couldn't tell it. I've had no problem reaching all the girls I've called on the internet sites.
I spent about $1,000 US today on stuff for my apartment. For those of you that will be staying here you'll love some of this stuff. My CD player I brought down broke so I had to buy a new one today. Electronics here are pricey because of the import taxes. (Usually about 40% more). I bought all new sheets, comforter, and goose down pillows because I hated the ones the owner bought me. Dropped a ton of money but it's worth it. Man, there is a cool chain of stores called "Buenos Aires Design" next to Hard Rock Cafe in Recoleta. You can find anything for your place if you get one here.
There is a grocery store for those of you staying in apartments in Recoleta. It's called Disco and is on Quintana a few blocks from the Alvear Palace. Groceries are cheap here. I got tons of drinks (water, coke, wine, Bailey's, etc, fruit, etc.) less than 60 pesos for about 7 bags of stuff.
I'm really tired but I just called an Area-Vip girl. She is coming in about an hour or so. I thought I'd have more of a leisurely pace here since this vacation is 16 days but I love the chicas here. My building has 3 doormen for the 3 different shifts. I got 3 Christmas cards and put some cash in them for them. The day guy never has a smile on his face but this seemed to crack it.
My view is spectacular. It faces the river and Montevideo. I have an air-conditioner but only used it a little yesterday. I'm on the top floor of my building so I have a good breeze with the patio doors open.
I had breakfast this morning at La Biela. I got a newspaper from the corner stand (Miami Herald for 12 pesos). Man I love that cafe. It's not the cheapest but well worth it. I was wondering if you could tell us a little bit about what you do you in BA in order to have an apartment. I am thinking in living in BA from March-July. There is a place in Barrio Norte (Purreydon? and Arenales) that charge me 1100 pesos a month. The place is more like the size of an American Studio and is kind of a Hotel/apart-ments. What I like about it is that is month to month, not deposit or leasing contract, utilities to be pay etc...
My questions for you if you don't mind are: Did you have to commit to a year lease? Also was there a first and last month plus deposit required? I just hate the hassle of dealing with that in a foreign country.
How much do you think is a fair price to rent a nice furnished apartment in the Barrio Norte/Recoleta area?

Saint, are you talking about the Disco that is next door to Shampoo? I went to that one a few times. The address is Quintana 366. Another Disco is located at Talcahuano 1055. Checkout lines move slow in Disco. If you want any fruits and vegetables you better be lucky or patient. Each Disco store has one person in the back weighing and pricing produce. Most of the time there were long lines of women waiting to get their produce priced.
Saint, since you like convenience, check into their delivery service. On several occasionis, I saw Diso employees pushing carts filled with stacked plastic crates carrying 10-20 orders. Most of the time, the orders were stacked over the employee's head and he was having trouble seeing where he was going. I saw this at both Disco stores I shopped at.

Busy busy busy busy day. My night time girl just left and she is a sweetie. Booking body. So much happened last night but I'm tired so i'll give you readers digest version. Wow. Must not be too many Americans in BA now. I guess Jackson and I are doing all of the mongering for the "group". Ha, ha. Jackson doesn't post much but we've been having a good time. Last night was the first time out of 5 trips here that I've eaten dinner alone. The guy sitting next to me at a Parrilla looked somewhat Latin but i wasn't sure. Then I hear him say he was from Europe. He is a younger dude so I imagine he is here on business.
We start talking and he's a great guy. I invite him to go out with Jackson and I. We all go to one of the outskirt clubs. Man, very very different scene there. We also went to the further away Affaire. Something that I never heard anyone mention is there are 15 rooms above that Affaire that you can take the chica to if you don't want to go back to your hotel room. (I'm not into that but hey......do your own thing).
Our new friend, Mr. C. liked the places he was seeing. It was my first time at 2 of the places Jackson took us to. Different and worth going back to. Mr. C. wanted to hit a disco so we dropped him off at Buenos Aires News. Man oh man there were tons of hottie chicks outside waiting to get in. That place looked interesting. The taxi driver told me there were working girls to be had there. Hola amigos. (Hey Ezy!). Today is Sunday. It has been raining since last night. It was neat though with the view. I was watching it lightning after a marathon session with my girl from Madaho's. - I can understand that women have bad days (everybody has) but there is a line beyond which professional women shouln't cross: Lying, not worrying about your satisfaction as a customer, etc.
- If you go to an apartment, go with small bills. Chances are that they won't return change (as happened to me).
I hope to see some bars tonight but just to study the scene, perhaps Pueyrredon Affaire and Salomé (I have to run many errands tomorrow since Tuesday and Wednesday many public institutions will be closed). Sunday night is usually dead but... who knows?

Jackson and I went to Prueyrredon Affaire a few weeks ago. I was a bit disappointed although Jackson thought it was worth a second visit.
It's a place for locals and the chicas are a bit below average, a bit old and trampy for my tastes but then I like the a younger GND ="girl next door" look, like the kind of chicas I find in Madahos and Blacks. The club has rooms upstairs and the price is 15 pesos entrance and abougt 80 pesos for an hour. There is also a take out price, although I didn't ask what it was since there was no one I wanted to take out.
One interesting aspect is that all the girls wear mini-skirts and sit on the bar stools, with their knees on the seats and elbows on the bar, sticking their asses up for inspections, like one of those sexy calendar shots. It's really a great site to see - a row of bar stools with six nice asses on view and worth going for that alone.
I felt that the other affair, Affaire Recoleta, has a far better selection of chicas depending on the evening; that is, it's hit or miss...but I found some real hot chicas there.
Anyway if you do go to the other Affaire on Pueyrredon I'm curious about your opinion. I'm also interested in any reports on brothels and apartment brothels, as that's an area that hasn't been covered that much in the forum and of course, any little gems like Nuevo Estilo Boliche.

First of all...apologies to Jackson for not being able to hook up last night. My little Christmas party went longer than expected at the restaurant with Moondog and the other guests. If you're a good guy and they can see it you'll get a different sort of treatment. Off we went to meet Moondog and crew.

Yesterday night, after a hectic day full of visits and re-encounters and having flown in a plane full of crying babies adn families returning home for the holidays, I should have called it a day but I didn't. The inner drive to meet the old places was strong enough to go out.
By midnight, I headed towards Pueyrredon Affair. I was charged $10 for the entrance fee. I got surprised when I saw 20+ guys and 12 girls, unusual for a Sunday night. No time for long posts today. Had a VERY busy day. Been on the go since 9 AM. Non-stop. I just extended my trip until January 18th!!!! I'm here a whole month. I don't ever want to go back to the USA.
Exchange rate today is 3.41 to $1 US. Temperature is in the low 80's today with a nice breeze and sunny.

This apartment is luxury. As luxurious as any apartment on Park Avenue in NYC. I'm amazed! It is a one bedroom two bathroom apartment in Recoleta. It's NOT cheap but I think I will rent it out to American companies that send their executives here on business. I've made so many contacts here since I started coming here. I meet people pretty easily.
I'll also mention that I told Mayri to start charging for her services. Now she is booking tickets for air travel and not charging a fee even though she has to take a taxi to downtown and sit in an office and wait to get tickets. I went with her and easily waited 35 minutes. Time is money..Oh well..i hope she listens to me.
Getting my visa from the Brazillian embassy was a hassle. They are very rude for the most part and I feel lucky to have gotten my visa today since they are only open 1/2 a day tomorrow and closed Thursday. I'm gonna extend my Rio trip now to spend a few more days with my amigos. 11 days in Rio and 19 days in Buenos Aires. Life is truly good.
Met Moondog in Cafe Orleans to say goodbye to him. A great guy. I called American Airlines when I got back and they said they could change my ticket but for the difference in price. They wanted $1200 US!!! Before I left they wanted $2700 US!!! What gives???? I remembered passing an AA office here in BA so I took a taxi there and saw a hottie. First off, I enjoy reading your posts as I'm sure many others do. Your joie de vivre is infectious. I'm fascinated by the great reports from BA. But I feel like I'm missing something. I have been in BA in '96 and '99 but not to monger. I enjoyed the great steaks, italian food, the ambience of the city and the charms of a nonprofessonal that I met at a tango class. And I speak a decent amount of spanish but I never considered it in the same league as Thailand or the Philippines

Most I've found have been scanned at low resolution so that the street names are not legible. I will NEVER go to Thailand. That I'm sure of. I love BA as much or more for the city than the chicas. I'm beginning to fall more in love with the city and it's people day by day. The architecture, the way of life, the spirit of the people here is amazing. I think it's actually good there was the financial crash. It's bringing people to a certain type of reality about their country.
I've discovered new things about the city. I've ventured off to other parts of the city than Recoleta. Palermo, and Belgrano are two beautiful parts of the city. There are so many other parts that I am going to visit.

I admire your posts and my last trip to BA was greatly enhanced by prior reading of your adventures. But would'nt you agree with the old axiom that "variety is the spice of life"? I go to Thailand, few times a year. I love Costa Rica and now fell in love with BA. In my view asian women are most feminine, american women don't know what the word means and latin women are in between. You will hardly find a Thai girl walking naked in your room. They come out of the bathroom with a towel wrapped as tightly as possible and you have to coax them to remove it even under the cover.
