Day two, I met this young lady in Cafe Exedia. She is part argentinian, part Mexican. She studies part of the week, and late week works in Exedia. Being German is very believable for most American white guys, there are a fair amount of German tourists here, and very few people here speak German to call your bullshit. Also, an American accent in Spansih sounds quite similar to a German one.
English is a Germanic language and is much closer, especially in pronunciation, to German than to the Romance languages like Spanish. I know a few Germans here and if you think Americans sound funny speaking Spanish, you should hear them. They make us sound like the King of Spain. The language factor is very important if you're trying to conceal your nationality.
And as I mentioned, IMO being from Germany is a lot more believable and successful. German guys generally look/dress similar to yanquis. Ive never met a Bulgarian/Romanian/Russian guy here. If I were a chica and met a guy from one of those countries, I would assume he was very poor. That is not what you want chicas to think, not if you want to "nail" them anyway.

This gets the worse, the more the rules in the two languages concerned are different from each other, and unfortunately, english pronounciation rules, especially for vowels, differ significantly from those of most other European languages, Roman, Germanic or Slavian. And, unlike in many other languages, in English the pronounciation (not only length or emphasis) but the sound itself of a vowel depends on it's context in a word, just take the "o" in who, wonder, cow, ocean. In many languages, including Spanish and German it's much more a 1:1 relation between the letter and the associated phonem.
To make it short: you hear a gringo speaking Spanish 100 miles against the wind, even if he has an extremely good command of the language, like Dickhead. I doubt if you could tell a German from a Swedish or a Polish guy.
