Dear Jackson:

I think that I should write to you and thank for maintaining this site. I cam across it by surfing the web looking for information on "restaurants- Buenos Aires". My wife and I are coming for a two week visit in March and I have visited your site so much, that I am listed as the most frequent visitor.

Not only the information on restaurants but also on money matters and taxis has been most helpful. The rest of my reading of your site has been for vicarious pleasure since I have now attained the ripe old age of 80.

I will post again once I have returned from our visit to your wonderful city. We spent three days in BA back in the late 90's, having come from a visit to our children who were posted to Ascuncion for five years. I am looking forward to dining at 1/3 of the cost.

The times on the postings seem to be 4 hours earlier than the times.

In Argentina, ie. Time in arg = 18:40

Time on screen = 14:40

Is this differential true for ALL times posted?

Dear Jackson.

I think it would be beneficial to the forum if we started a zero tolerance policy concerning flames. The level of interaction on this board has deteriorated into complete shit. Culprits include easy go, Hunt99, Papa Benito, Dirk Diggler, Moore, JustMoi, Doggboy, Marak5, Thomaso, Exon123, Dickhead, and many others. We have one common goal but the constant bickering and fighting has gotten out of control.

On top of that, we don't have one single report from the past 3 months. We have members living in Argentina, or spending months there at a time, or traveling there every 2 months. Where the fuck are their reports? Many of these members are the first to flame or dole out advice and play the expert, but they are adding little overall value to this site. What is the point of even having this forum if no one is even reporting?

This forum has turned into a place where people come to take out personal angst rather than post any useful information on Argentina. Everyone here believes they are the smartest, most clever, most intelligent poster, biggest expert on argentina, and the list goes on and on. The egos on this site are intolerable at this point in time.

Please restore order and civility to argentinaprivate.

Asking Jackson to "restore order and civility to argentinaprivate" is a typical response to a perceived problem, and is not the way to correct it. The "we need to pass a law" mentality seldom solves anything!

The anonymity of the forum seems to encourage a certain level of foolishness, but the correct response, IMHO, is to not pick up the gauntlet and just ignore it. Nothing stops a flame war faster then not responding to it.

You, Marak, have been one of the major culprits in this, without the seniority of Hunt99, Thomaso, Dickhead or Exon to tempt me to overlook it. Those guys have been here a long time, and have contributed a great deal of information to the "community" - you have not. We all existed here with reasonable tranquility for many years, and frankly I think most of us feel that newbies, for the most part, are to be "seen and not heard" until they have established that they:

A) Are capable of reading a little before they ask questions that have already been answered.

B) Have something to offer, either by being worth knowing or know something worth sharing.

and

C) Have the ability to enter the pool without splashing everybody, and promise not to piss in it afterwards!

Next time you feel your ego being tweaked, just wait a day before you respond, and then only if there is some reason to respond at all.

This is advice I try to follow (admittedly with more success sometimes then other times)
