As I am in the process of moving from Asia to Buenos Aires I just spent some 3 weeks there researching the city and the new job.

I don't think you overpaid, but, IMHO, you should ALWAYS get the money issue out of the way before you leave. For one thing, I feel arguing about money is tacky. My suggestion is always to tell her what you want and how much you will pay, and then it's done - she can take it or leave it. You can imply that good service = a tip, but if you do she will expect a tip whether the service was good or not.

Since you are moving their with a new job it won't take you long to catch on to how business is done in Argentina. You probably could have had the girl in Catto's for $150 peso's or less, but theres no shame in paying the $200 you did for good service.
