Another Disturbing Development
I agree. All the signs point to a major clean up. Amazing that it could happen to a city as historically decadent as Buenos Aires but it looks like its going to happen.
I fondly remember the New York of the 1970's and 80's. NYC is certainly cleaner and more safe now, but the allure is not the same as it once was.
Another disturbng development is with the private apartment flyers. They use to have addresses on them but now only telephone numbers and there are allot fewer of them.
Also lately I have seen people systematically removing them. At first it was a woman with an angry look on her face and I figured it was some crazed feminist, a modern day Carey Nation who walked into bars before prohibition with an axe and smashed all the liquor bottles but the next day I saw a man doing the same thing and another the day after that.
This all with the police closing of the boliches and high end apartments...
Connect the dots. It seems part of an bigger agenda, by whom and why i don't know, but an agenda nevertheless. I hope this doesn't lead eventually to women in Buenos Aires having to cover up, even wear a veil in public like in Saudi Arabia - that's a monger's worst nightmare:-)
Hook - The Last Big Thing
So you guys are telling me that Hook now is the next big thing?
I want to know...i am getting there to BA on june 17th.
Hook is probably the last big thing the way things are going. I doubt it will still be open when you arrive June. The boliches are being shut down almost on a weekly basis at the moment.
Will Out of the Way Boliches Survive ??
I was hoping the boliches on the other side of Avenida de Julio would be spared, but I'm losing faith.
Soon, for kicks, I'm going to check out La Casa Blanca in San Telmo. I wonder if the anti-boliche/gato squad will be targeting out of the way places.
I'm curious also about Estilo Nuevo in Belgrano? I wonder if that's next on the list to get shut down?
I said it before and I'll say it again
This is true. But with the elections coming, if the FPV loses control..!
Hope springs eternal in the human penis.
Sad to see the scene going down.
Thanks man.
Still going for the family but It's sad to see the scene going down.
Indeed It is a sad state of affairs and not only for the mongers. For hundreds - if not thousands - of single mothers working the clubs this was their sole source of income during a severe recession.
Revenge of the gays blitzkrieg
Periplo ?
Marcelo T Monica place ? I'm betting if not permanently shut it will be soon. Why wouldn't it be given the crackdown ?
Its a no holds barred blitzkrieg.
I have a gay friend - well not a "close" friend and he told me that not a single gay boliche - and there are dozens - has been shut down, just almost all the straight ones. What's next - a ban on marriage between a man and a woman ?
