1) Ambito Financiero is the main financial Argentine newspaper. It usually has the advertisement for upscale escorts, while Clarin has the middle scale and Cronica has the low scale.
You can access the online version on www.ambitoweb.com Go there and click over "Acceso a la Edicion Gratuita" (Access to the Free Site). There, you will find a left menu column that has the link "Guia de Servcios" under Clasificados (sometimes is offline due to maintenance). At his page, I usually find the new Internet escorts sites for Buenos Aires (every month or every 2 months a new link is added).

All around the World, the hobby changes faster than subparticles in quantum physics. A current good brothel was a lousy shack yesterday, and the opposite.
For instance, two of the best BA brothels in the 90s were Top Secret (Artigas St and JB Justo Ave, in Flores) and La Saison (Pueyrredon Av and Cordoba Av, in Barrio Norte). Both are still open but, from my recent experience and the recent posts I read, these places don't rock anymore.
I wrote an anonymous report in this website back in 1996 detailing how the brothel business went down after the "Judge Oyarbide scandal". By 1997-98, most boliches were simple bars as we know them nowadays (no rooms available on site). The few brothels that you will encounter in BA are out of downtown and Recoleta (I'm not including private apartments, since I don't consider them "brothels").
Unfortunately, your question can only be answered by trial and error and serves only for a limited time. Just apply common sense (also take into account that a good brothel to me could be nasty for you and viceversa). Try Pueyrredon Affaire. If you like it, chances are that you will like brothels BA style. If you don't like it, be aware that most brothels are worse than that.

This might not be the right place to put this, but since I had a doctor appt. anyway today, I had a very interesting chat with my Doc about this and that, but specifically the perils of the beloved BBBJ. He is a REALLY cool guy, and his take and suggestions were these...

Iam well aware of the changing scene in BA and I have tried some of the brothels in the recoleta. French of course. There is a nice one called Cielo on larrea and one on Juncal. I’ve seen Affair too. The Oyarbide scandal that you refer to, is it the murder of the brothel manager that I’ve been hearing about.

The one called Cielo on Larrea is on 1075 something. I can't remember exact. It's a nice place with about 10 girls. Compared to the one on French they have much better girls. 120 peso for an hour for bj with condom and ordinary shag. 150 with a bbbj and 170 if one is into anal. They post in Ambito financiero. The one on Juncal is on the small part of the street (on block) that is closed for repairs. No cars allowed. This doesn't really help since you need the exact address. But check their ads in Ambito.

In the States, we use the term "Girl Next Door" for a normal looking girl. By "normal" I don't mean that she couldn't be extermely beautiful, but a "Girl Next Door" doesn't look like a supermodel or a porn star. She looks like the hot girl at your office, or at the supermarket, or at other everyday places.

WOW! 2 "saunas" in Barrio Norte... 2 years ago, they wouldn't afford to remain in business since neighbors would have complained and rent prices would have been too high for this activity in a high-scale commercial district. However, neigbors may not care that much now and rental prices may have plummeted.
Before the shootings, the brothel scene seemed similar to that of San José, Costa Rica: Many bars with on-site facilities ("saunas") like IDEM, most of them in Flores, Constitucion, Once and Palermo (Recoleta and Downtown, although alive, didn't attract many foreigners with the 1-1 Peso-Dollar parity).
After the shootings, the Federal Police had to pretend that they fighted prostitution (instead of making money form it) so many of these "saunas" were closed, just to reopen transformed in bars with exit fees, as they are today.
In many neighborhoods like Flores, the former saunas just built a divisory wall between the bar and the rooms, adding a new entrance from the outside, so the bar has no apparent connection with the neighboring property (La Fuente, Envidia, La Nuit, Scorpions, Manhattan, etc, still work that way; see my previous posts from July 2002). It's funny: You go out of the bar with the girl and enter the house next door. Literally 4 steps.
What I used to do when living there is to park my car close to the entrance door and watch the quality from the outside (girls coming in and out all of the time). This way I kept my clothes away from those heavily smoking places (people smoke a lot there) and avoided the entrance fee if I didn't like the girls (take into acount that I earned a local salary...).
As for what I read from board posters, I imagine that most people wouldn't feel comfortable with the old "saunas": Too fast and quick for a GFE, and I understand it. Traveing from so far away for a "hygienic discharge" isn't worth. But for a young Argentine guy who visited the places once or twice a month and had non-pro action at the same time, it was OK.
