Gentleman, I need your help on a non-mongering matter: During my upcoming trip to BA I would like to visit some of the regular clubs. I know tango is the thing in BA but I'm an avid salsa dancer and there have got to be some good salsa clubs there. Saint? Anybody? Thanks guys!

With this crowd, you are better sticking to the Lonely Planet Thorntree to ask this question. I know some normal clubs but don't really go to salsa clubs. Go to the LP Thorntree board. There is SO much information there. There is this guy that lives here named Marrox that basically will answer any/all questions on BA. The guy knows just about everything you could want to know on BA. A lot of helpful information there.
Odds are if you post a question it will be answered within the hour by people that definitely know what they are talking about. By the end of the day you'll probably have all you need to know.

I to am a lover of Salsa music and dance. However the salsa dance clubs in BA are considered low life gatherings or at least I've been told. Have been to BA once called a couple of places, They did not sound to friendly. Perhaps others can as Saint mentioned know more.

Enricos mistakes salsa clubs from bailantas (cumbia music catering to low class people). Salsa clubs stick to salsa, merengue and cha-cha-cha, and are attended mainly by middle class people in their 30s and 40s. They have a very relaxed atmosphere, being the porteño salsa world very small (you see the same faces at different clubs).
After the devaluation, many clubs closed their doors. As far as I know, the most important clubs and weekdays are:
- La Salsera (TH thru SU)
- La Trastienda (WE)
- Azucar (FR)
- Ron y Son (FR and SA)
- Champs Elysées (FR)

but for cuban its a different feeling ... Music, is different in Cuba,
in fact, in El Oriente ... That is Camaguey and Santiago thats
where the music is played ... PURO SON CUBANO !!!

I had one afternoon free at this worderful city. Sasha from Area Vip was the chosen one.
