thanks Andres.
I just got back to BA today. Iīm dog tired from the hellishly long flight from the West Coast. Iīll try some clubs tonight although I donīt have much hope since it is Sunday. I refuse to pay $100 at Madahos. I hope no else does and sets the expectations too high for the girls. The last time I was there, Crazy Emily told me that some guy paid her $400(USD) for a couple of hours of her time. Insanity.
I havenīt been here in exactly a year. It feels like I never left. Things are mostly the same. Although has that Freddo always been there on the end of Village Recoleta?
Greetings, gentlemen.
Although I'm from Uruguay, I'm writing from Mexico City, where I live.
I've just registered in this superb forum. Truly a gold mine of information.
Congratulations, Mr. Jackson, for putting this site up.
Ok, now to my humble post. I'll be traveling to South America in a couple of weeks, and visiting Bs. As. during last week of April. I'll be coming from Montevideo, most likely. So, I'll definitely be putting into use your reccomendations and suggestions. I'd just thought it would be nice to meet some of you fellow mongers there. Also, feel free to ask about Mexico City's action, if you need some piece of info.
Here's an useful site: http://www.divas.com.mx/foro/forum.php
There are a lot of brazilian and argentinian chicas advertising on that site, and they're making a fortune in this city, by charging triple what they get in their hometown, I believe. (Usual going rate is around $170-$230 US Dollars)
BTW, I work as an English teacher here in Mexico, but I also speak Portuguese and Italian. If we ever meet there during my chica-hunting excursions and you'd like a little translator or interpreter help, I'll be happy to assist you, (free of charge of course, 'cuz I'll be on vacation, lol).
I'll be visiting a couple of clubs only, possibly Black and Madahos, maybe Affaire Recoleta, but I think I'll be spending more time and money checking out private apartments.
Take care, and have fun and safe adventures.
Chica Seeker, well I have run into apartments where "upper level" chicas are a little more than the normal girls. When Elvis and I went to an apt, he was looking for a particular girl. Her price was 10 or 20 pesos (50-60 pesos total) where as the one I got was only 40 pesos.
I think that you should verify which chicas are there, and then ask for a complete parade, that way they won't know that you are looking for that one special chica. They obviously ripped you off for at least 20 pesos. I think you let them roll over you by not insisting. If you just put your tail between your legs and run you're just teaching them that it's okay to rip off gringos.
Exon Reporting : --- Was out to dinner last night with Chica Seeker and was banded from Esteilo Campo the classy steak house in Porta Madero. Everything was fine untill the end of the meal when the check arrived. All I had was a few pesos and a USD hunderd dollar |bill. The check being about $160 pesos for the two of us I gave the waiter the C- note and he returned with change baised on a $2.70 ar exchange rate. I was both a little drunk and pissed as you can get a $3.00 exchange rate most anywhere in Recoleta, they even advertize it on many signs. Their prices are high, but Campo's prices are even higher. Anyway over comes the Chica who speaks English and tells me their rate is 2.70 and I know Im out at least 20 pesos on the deal. So I go over to the manager to complain and he points to the small sign, which no one could ever see, and tells me thats the deal. I still complain, saying thats not fair and after a little more hageling he reach's in his own pocket, pulls out a twenty hands it to me. I in turn immedately hand it over to the waiter as a tip. The Manger very politely states to me " please don't come back " Now what really bothers me is I'd rather have to option of being welcome at Esteilo Campo than the twenty Argentine pesos. I think I'll go back an apologize with twenty pesos ---- Exon
Exon, I had problems finding good exchange rates at times too and found that ATMs gave me the best consistant rates all the time. I think I get charged $1 per transaction, so will take out 1000 or 1500 pesos at a time as I need them. The Oanda.com site give me 2.92 pesos to the dollar as an official rate.
I realize that you may be a bit gun shy of pesos at time, given all the fakes going around.
Just Got Back,
You shouldn't stress about the prices in Madahos. I speak minimal Spanish -- enough to keep a 5-10 minute basic conversation going in the present tense. So I am just a little better off than the complete non-speaking Spanish gringo.
Every girl I talked with at Madahos is willing to play ball for around 200 pesos (not for TLN; but you should be able to drag something respectable out for that amount for a couple of hours).
Blacks is another story as everyone well knows. I tended to go into blacks and simply marvel at the chicas. THEY ARE NOT ANY BETTER LOOKING; JUST MORE EXPENSIVE. I state that as unequivical fact. Madahos has 5 really hot chicks and Blacks has 5 really hot chicks -- the remainder of the girls in both clubs are average looking; most of whom I am not attracted to at all. But especially not attracted to at Blacks because of theiir prices!
That said -- if it could be guaranteed that the girls at Blacks were worth the additional money insofar as they were out and out Porn Star Experiences. Then that would be a different story. Then I might be willing to play ball at an inflated rate.
Its just that that has never been my experience. The girls at Blacks are as good or as bad, as wild or as tame as most of the chicks inn any of the clubs. And unless your girl comes with a seal of approval from another monger -- then your really just rolling the dice paying the drink fees and crazy rates they want.
For my money -- I would prefer to "overpay" escorts Sandy, Bibiana and Abril--all of whom are great, proven providers for an incredible session than to chance it with a regular girl at blacks.
Moreover, virtually every girl in the line ups I saw at 1707 Santa Fe are comparable to the girls in Blacks.
Blacks is an overrated establishment that has only three good things going for it 1) location 2) ambiance 3) and the rule of the girls not coming up to you until you summon them; that is a nice touch.
Exon:
I don't know how many times did you dine out at Estilo Campo. If you were there at least 5 times, then they don't deserve your presence there anymore. In fact, I can barely understand how management decided that a patron who spent, let's say, ar$500 in 5-6 meals won't be given back a small portion of that due to discrepancies.
Recoleta has many places to eat and Buenos Aires has many, many more, MUCH CHEAPER and perhaps better (or at least as good). I guess that owners of Recoleta restaurants think that they "own" tourists because they are at hand, so they don't care if they piss off patrons.
There are several areas to experiment good dining:
- Las Caņitas
- Venezuela and San José
- Palermo Hollywood
There are at least 200 restaurants in these neighborhoods, all of them at a 10 minutes cab from Recoleta.
Recommendation: Go to any library (there is one in Village Recoleta, and three more around Callao and Santa Fe) and ask for a Guide of BA Restaurants (Guia de Restaurantes de Buenos Aires)
Hope this helps,
Andres
LA Larry, Iīm not worried about Madahos. I normally pay 150 pesos and maybe 200 on the high end. It just amazes me that some guys fall for the 100 dollars routine.
Itīs early evening here. I hate this time of day. Too early for dinner and the clubs arenīt opened yet. What to do? What to do? I think Iīll check out Solid Gold and Affaire tonight. I think theyīll be dead but I wouldnīt go to Solid Gold on a normal night. Iīve been there before and it was always a waste. I have hopes for Affaire and if that fails, fall back to New Port for a hail mary. Iīll post a report tomorrow.
Exon Reporting --- Thank You Andres I appreicate your comments. The number of times Ive dinned at Estilo Campo is more like 10 atleast. Its always been one of my faviorates in this beautiful city. Matter o fact Ive even have faviorate waiters that know my drink and have brought it to me even before Ive ordered it. Its an unfortunate event as I really like the place. Seems everyone has yacking lately how the Argentines have been riping off us Americana's, and it was really not the money, the priniple of course. And thats were we all get into trouble. Were talking about twenty pesos, roughly 7 US dollars. Now if that happend in my country, and it wouldn't because I speak my langush, there would be a problem. I just feel really bad about it. Thanks Again Andres ----- Exon
Hey JGB,
"The last time I was there, Crazy Emily told me that some guy paid her $400(USD) for a couple of hours of her time. Insanity."
That might be true, but as a rule I wouldn't believe a word that comes out of Emily's mouth.
Have a great time in BA!!!!!!!!
Hi guys,
I've been enjoying this forum for some time. I made a stealth trip to BA last September and had the time of my life.
I'm one picky bastard and so was my comrade with whom I typically travel. Day 1 - got to our apartment at 156 Parera (sig), 11th floor I believe. The place was nice but the beds SUCKED. Each room had two somewhat bowed single beds pushed together to make one larger bed.
Sure, they were fine when you were with a chica, but never a day passed when I wasn't cursing the god damned things whence I awoke.
After arriving, checking into the place and grabbing a shower (mid-Sunday afternoon), we grabbed a cab to Cafe Orleans - picked up a honey (sorry too long ago to remember names now). As there two of us, she called a freind to meet us at our apartment. The friend was a dog. We let her give us massages. Then we did the hottie!! Nice beginings to a new vacation destination.
The next few days were spent eating primarily in Palermo in the evening and checking out Shampoo (never found anyone we liked there) and Madahos before returning to our apartment with a couple of hotties. Some better than others, mostly pretty good. We always paid around AR$200 -
AR$250 for TLN.
We also had the standard city tour with Roxana; I highly recommend this. Roxana also set up a few dates here and there for us.
By mid-week we were on a plane to Ushuiua to check it out. Didn't expect much in the way of chicas there, just wanted to say we'd been in Tierra Del Fuego to our friends and family back home.
Well, I met a pro - Luciana- getting out of a cab near some seedy boliche. She was definitely the best chica I hooked up with my entire stay in Argentina. Ended up spending three nights with her. She is from Mar del Plat (I think). We had a lot of fun together, but I've no contact information on her. She said she was there only temporarily and that she would return to Mar del Plat in the coming months.
After Ushiuia we headed back to BA for the weekend. More Madahos, more Roxana set ups, and a few nights at Black. I had good luck in Blacks, paid AR$300 TLN twice. I had fun anyay.
After the weekend we flew over to Mendoza for a couple of vineyard tours and other site seeing. I grabbed some local paper and came upon the sex ads, blindly called one and received a pretty nice young gal an hour later. Not as nice as my girl in Ushuiai but nice nonetheless.
Highlights --- non pro girls walking around with perfect asses. We've since labled BA and the land of perfect asses. I suspect it's because 90% of the population seems to be living the fucking atkins diet.
Favorite Restaurant -- Bar 6 somewhere in Palermo. Great food, booze, etc.. We became very familiar with the young ladies who were hostesess, servers, and bartenders. Soooo gorgeous they were, sooo nice. Never even a glimpse of a chance that either of us might hook up with them. Great company anyway.
Best hang out place-- A small pool club in Recoletta called "Blue". I think it's fairly close to 1707 Santa Fe, but on a perpedicular street. Cheap beer (every table has its own tapper with a meter, you pay by the ounce / ltre), cheap pool tables and nice. Everything is in cobalt blue, including the felt on the tables.
Now some questions for all of you:
1. I'm returning in late May and am looking for a two bedroom apartment with (hopefully) internet capabilities. I've asked Mayra and she yas suggested the same exact place I stayed at last time. If not for the beds I'd grab it in a minute, even without internet. Any suggestions?
2) Is the boat ride over to Uraguay worth the time / money?
3) I'd like to help out on the soup kitchens for a day or so. I've set aside about US$300 to help out the cause. But don't have a clue where the places are or how to get to them.
4) I'd also like to know if there is some way that I can change my 'dorky' member name from "Member #1148" to something a little more unique.
5) Are there real limosuines in BA, I don't recall seeing any? I'm traveling with a different guy who hasn't a clue about the chica scene and would like to surprise him at the airport with a limo and a chica in the car waiting to blow him. Any suggestions?
6) Jackson, I'd like to help out the kids at the soup kitchens as much as I can for a day or two. I'll cook, clean, serve or whatever. Hope you can help me. Also, I wouldn't mind hiring some entertainers to keep the kids laughing... perhaps a magician or something along those lines. Would anyone mind if I filmed these events?
Thanks everyone, I hope to meet some of you once we arrive in May.
Cheer! FarmerD
JamesBond69,
What are you crazy??? It would be suicide to run against el jefe.
Besides, I could never "measure" up.
I'll wait for the rest of the story and then tell my spin.
President.....HA
I prefer Superman.....to the rescue of fellow mongers faster than a speeding bullet.....able to please three chicas all at a time.
You know, that kind of thing.
El jefe's claim.....going where no man has gone before.
Mad Max
Monday night Stormy, the Mouse, and I went totally sober to Hook's to confront the owner (Jose'). We went up to his post but were shooed away to the bar. I told the witch female bartender, whom I've never liked, in Spanish, that we would like to speak to the manager or the owner if that was possible. I used the very polite 'quisiera' form for the request. She said she didn't understand me. Bullshit. I said it again and she reluctantly brought him over. She looked very scared. I politely introduced all of us to him, then I explained to him that Mouse had to pay for drinks that Stormy and I had already paid for. I explained the circumstances thoroughly. He could not look me in the eye.
He then told me that this waiter was not on duty that night and that I should come back Monday night and he would investigate. Well, Stormy and Mouse will be gone by then. I then explained to him that we had made a pact to pay for each round in cash when we got it precisely BECAUSE we'd had some problems there before. He again repeated that the waiter wasn't there. I asked him if he was assuring us that he would investigate and he said he was. After the conversation was concluded we immediately turned around and walked out pretty fast without having a beer or anything.
I will return tonight to check again but I am boycotting this place unless 120 pesos are handed over with little further discussion. It has no advantage over Catto's. Catto's has bottled beer for 10 pesos and Hook's has cans for 12. Hook's chica drinks are more expensive and the bartender is a money grubbing kunt, whereas Catto's bartender provides excellent service and no whining for tips. Note that I did all the talking in this encounter and I thought very carefully about what to say, making sure to use the polite Usted form and so forth.
[blue]Hi DH,
I'd have to second the endorsement of the bartender and staff at Cattos. I've know the bartender, Lucas, for years. I've never had any problems in Cattos myself, or heard of anybody ever having a problem there.
Thanks,
Jackson[/blue]
Member 1148,
This is my first time in BA, I spent a day with Captain Dave and Jackson on a soup kitchen visit, very heart wrenching. My suggestion would be spend a day with Jackson visiting the comodores and if one particular place appeals more than the others you could donate your money to them, through Jackson. The work Jackson And Dave do means a great deal to these poor people.
I took the fast boat to Montivedeo, Uruguay with a girl I have met hear, she speaks English a great help as I speak no spanish. I found the trip worth while, stayed at the Shearaton, very good value.
Hope this helps a little.
