The $ symbol is used for both dollars and pesos. Your 600 will be pesos. Sometimes you will see "USD" and "ARS" used to denote dollars and pesos. ARS is the ticker symbol for Argentine pesos.

They want you to call and then (in my opinion) feel you out and see how much they can rob you for. Or they will say, 30k down and payments of XXX monthly. Never telling you how many payments. Its all part of a game they play. Once they find out you're a foreigner the price goes up. You will also notice that a lot of stores do not put prices on items they have on display, forcing you to ask them so that they can start their sales pitch. This despite a law here that says all items must be clearly marked as to price, quantity, etc. It is very frustrating to say the least.
