This is one thing I've always wondered about. If one were a cop in vice assigned to bust prostitutes, how hard could it friggin be? The internet is overwhelmingly jam packed with escort sites, message boards, 'members only' sites, etc. Most women, even escorts in the U. S., routinely give out their real phone numbers.
