Ended up at this place Sunday morning around 05.00 am - paid 60p to get in & this included 2 drinks.

In total there were around 25-30 girls - most of them relatively young, and some of them quite good looking. I did however not enquire about chica drinks or salidas.

It seems like you can get private dances from the dancers at your table.

Left around 6.00 am and the place was still open.

Will probably check this place out again.

I went back here last night and talked to one of the english speaking hosts to clear up some stuff from the other night.

The rules are that there are no rules. They get what they can get.

The entry is standard, but the chica drink price is named by the chica and not the establishment so the chica can just make shit up. This makes sense from my last time wasting experience here.

I left without paying cover and would advise against wasting your time on this clip joint.

This place supposedly just re-opened. I wanted to check it out. I brought another board member to Madahos for the first time he ended up banging my favorita from there. No problema.

I needed a chica so I decided to check this place out.

Its 60p to get in.

I go in, and its a nice place appearance wise. Great sound system. They had some brazilan dancers there doing a small show.

I liked the fact that there is a big dance floor with the chicas dancing. I think dancing skills are in line with sex.

I had my eye on about 4 chicas right off the bat. The chicas were not as hot as Madaho's or La Lopez but I would say they were better than most places.

I had no idea what the price range was so I decided after about 15 minutes of just observing to test the waters.

I talked to 4 chicas, all were good dancers. I just got the feeling that they did not want to be there. They were just cold, and I got a bad feeling. I noticed this was prevalent through out after the fact by the looks on there faces. If they don't want to be in the club they probably would not like my apartment.

Price wise it was all over the place. 300p for TLN from one girl, to 400p for one sexo with another one. One girl said 400p was min, after I had already had the 300p TLN from the other chica. I knew there was bullshit involved at this point.

I went back to the TLN chica and was about to buy her a drink and they said it was 120p. At this point the place went to shit. I asked the door man on the way in and he said that chica drinks were 70p.

I just got a bad feeling about this place. Perhaps it was the second night, just getting started, maybe not.

There was no sign of Mirta, and the chicas had no idea who she was.

I can't honestly say go to this place at this point.

The Hippo was open through late December, but then closed up with a little sign hanging out front saying they were closed for remodeling and re-opening in a few weeks.

No sign but they are still closed.

In my experience, unless one actually sees guys working, remodelacion usually means closing down but keeping the options open.

I enjoyed the Hippo a couple of times in May of 06 which was the last time I was in BA ~ however since then it has dropped off the charts.

Anybody have any recent intel on this place? Is it still open? Any pussy running around?

I agree with you Mercboy. I was at the Hippo when I was in BsAs a couple of weeks ago and there was only 1 fat chica, 1 older, wore out chica and another very unfriendly chica, none I would consider taking even if I was drunk.

I was very dissapointed after hearing so many good reports about it. Luckily, I went to the restaurant first and avoided the cover charge. Afterwards, they the waiter will invite you to check out the club for free (or they did that night)

Went to Hippo on a Friday night, I think around 1. Was looking forward to it after some good reviews here. Classy looking joint, no pressure. Entertainment was an obese woman singing 70s disco tunes. That was the theme here I think: there was not one skinny girl in the bunch. Maybe that's why it's called Hippo?

Overall very little traffic for a Friday night. Don't think it's worth it. Entrada with one drink was 45.

I've been to the hippo on three occasions now over the last week [memo to self check online bank account] and have seen two different sorts of entertainment. On the first two occasions there were tango dancers and singers but last night it seemed to be a bit more erotic. The pole dances seemed to be more skillful and there were thease two very young petite girl dancers who perforned a rather hot soft porn strip lesbien thing and were crawlling all over the stage and dance floor on all fours. One of the girls was rather thin and blonde and the other dark haired , whom I'm in love with ,has the most adorable cute smile and young bright eyes. Any info on thease two dancers especially the dark haired one's name and age as she looked like she could of been any where between 15 and 18 and I'm started to think I'm turning into a pedo.

Continuing on where my friend Capt Dave left, a few nights later the said foxy “girlfriend” of him offered to let a group of six horny mongers in the club without any cover charge.

So, having first met at El Alamo and later dined at Hereford, myself, the good Captain, Jackson, Santa Fe, JustGotBack, and another non posting monger friend headed to meet the foxy girlfriend above at La Biela in Recoleta. There she was, elegantly dressed in a fur coat and waiting for the Argentina Private delegation. We greeted and made some small talk and then headed out for Hippopotamus.

The club is located on the restaurant row in Recoleta, not far from the Etoile hotel. It took us about a minute to reach it, and we all went around (!!) the metal detector and up the stairs into the main atrium, of course, without paying the 45 Pesos entrance fee.

Once inside, the club immediately struck me as a classy joint. Capt Dave has done a good job of explaining the layout in the last post, and I will only add a few points. The main bar and a large dance floor are on the main level, flanked by 4 “poles” where some highly delicious dancers exhibit their trade. There is a stage area, where some live singing of well known classics (think Frank Sinatra’s favorites or Gloria Gaynor’s “I will survive”) takes place. On both sides of the stage, there is a smaller “booth” type dance floor used by the “supporting cast”. An interesting touch was when a back lighted screen was hung in front of one of these booths and a strip tease act ensued behind the screen. This produced very enticing, sexy shadows on the screen, á la James Bond. The restrooms are upstairs and are of the “attended” variety, so take a few pesos up with you for the obligatory tip.

Shortly after entering, Jackson proceeded to the bar area and that was the last I saw of him. The remaining five mongers and Capt Dave’s girlfriend sat together in a semi-circular seating area close to the dance floor, and ordered our first drink. A few of us ordered beer, I and Dave ordered mineral water, and his girlfriend, of course, champagne. I think everything other than the champagne was 40 Pesos, and the champagne 60 pesos.

We sat there for about an hour and a half, and there wasn’t a lot of pressure to buy additional drinks. We watched the shows, talked, and danced a little. It came out in the conversations with Capt Dave’s girlfriend that the pole dancers could be arranged for an “encounter” somewhere around 4-5am, and the price, although negotiable, was to be in the 400 Pesos range. The time, at that point, was about 2am and as such Member #3313 was not going to hang around in a loud smoky place for another 3 hours waiting for his fourth chica of the day.

A few chicas sat together with Member #3313, each starting out with a quote of 400 pesos and dropping down to 200 Pesos quickly. At one point, Member #3313 was close to making a deal with two chicas for a threesome, each at 200 pesos. However, the deal breaker came when they wanted to get paid upfront. Once any chica sat down, there would immediately be a waiter asking for their drink order. Of course, Member #3313 would repel such waiters until it was established that the chica sitting with him would be the take out chica. Knowing that a chica of similar quality could be had for 100 Pesos at SF 1707 just a short cab ride away kept Member #3313 from making any selection. Finally, as Member #3313 was about to Leave the club to exercise said option above, a very interesting and unusual situation arose.

Our friend Santa Fe was spotted speaking to a completely “Asian” chica by the bar. I remember from reading this forum that there have been a number of inquiries about Asian providers in B.A., and to my knowledge no one had identified a fully “Asian” provider so far. Well, friends, this one was as “Asian” as they come. She had a very slender body, and long silky hair flowing gracefully down to her hips. Usually being an inmate in Sex Prison and having only Korean AMP’s available to him as the sole mean of “quick relief”, Member #3313 would not normally seek Asian providers while abroad. However, there was something very unusual about this slender, beautiful, Japanese girl with long silky hair speaking to him in Spanish!

And there came a generous offer from Santa Fe I could not refuse. He would pay for the salida drink of the chica if I were to test-drive her and pass his contact info to her if and only if she was good. So, with that in mind, I asked Tamiko (yes, with an “O” in the end) to sit down for a drink. I quickly negotiated her down to 250 Pesos from a ridiculous astronomical initial (unsolicited) quote, thanked my friend Santa Fe for his offer, paid my 40 Pesos for the mineral water (!!), said my goodbyes to everyone, and got up to leave with this chica.

Here was the only part of the encounter where it got a little unpleasant. Tamiko started asking for little tips for different people. First, she asked for a 10 Peso tip for one of the waitresses. I just don’t like clubs in general, and normally would not comply with these kinds of ridiculous requests. However, at that point, having essentially been engaged by Santa Fe to test drives this girl I didn’t want to break the deal. The waitress took the 10 pesos and thanked me so many times in such a sincere, surprised way that it made me feel a lot less bad. Tamiko later asked for a tip for the wardrobe guy, and then one for the doorman, and as I mentioned, I would have normally just laughed and walked at this point, but I felt obliged to carry out my end of the bargain for Santa Fe. Once on the street, we quickly hopped into a cab for the 3 minute drive to my Recoleta monger pad.

Shortly before reaching my apartment, literally around the corner form it, Tamiko let out a sigh of exclamation, saying “Oh, you live HERE?”. Yes my dear, I do. “But oh my god, we are neighbors!”, said Tamiko in a rather embarrassed way. Member #3313, of course, could care less. As far as he was concerned, a deal was a deal and that was her problem.
