    Asiatraveler2,

I have been in Thailand many times and recently spent 9 days in BA. It is very difficult to compare two places, because of their totally divergent geographical locations, including women.

If you are interested in latin women, hop in a plane and go to BA. In BA, it is basically club based actions, just like go go bars in Nana Plaza or Patpong, but offer you 10 fold higher quality entertainment. In addition, internet based escort scenes are highly developed in BA. Freelancing, although exists in BA, it pales in comparision to Thailand.

If you are interested in Asian women, look no further- Thailand should be your premier destination. Also, no place on earth has perfected the massage parlor scene as does Thailand. To have a soapy body massage in a Las Vegas type entertaiment establishment like Poseidon, New Cleopetra etc. is a once in a life time experience. Last year I spent a night with a Thai penthouse model- an experience I will never forget.

If you thinking about money, Thailand offeres you the best value. You can have a girl in Thailand for less than 35 USD for whole night. Whereas in BA, for quality girls, you might have to shell out close to 80 USD. For one hour action, many girls can be had for 30 USD in BA. Hope this helps.

    Saint,

Things are going well with Barbie,(AKA Pamela). She speaks more english, than I do Spanish. I talked to her yesterday on the phone, and what a great lady. She had me laughing after 10minutes and really sounds like she wants to see me. I know it is for the money, but she said during the day time she wanted to show me a little of BA. No charge, just lunch. Well if all the girls are like this, I am going to need a doctor after this trip. Or maybe a vacation, to re-coup from my vacation.

    ibiza,
I will be in BA Feb 2-11, it to is my first time. But with all the help from the guys on this board, I have done my home work. Jackson sent me MAYRA and ROXANA'S e-mail, and I am now counting days (45and counting) to Beautiful BA. Mayra is the best for lodging, I am staying at the "ETOLIE" in the Diplomatic Suite for 198pesos a night. Roxana will help me with the ladies and spanish language problems that arise. I also hope to meet "MR SIR JACKSON" in person, and all of us get together for dinner one night while I am their. Anyway if I can help in anyway , just ask.

    Asiatraveler2;

Use the forum search feature in this board and look for my post for 11-22-02. Also look for LA Larry reports on this issue. He has made a very good comparison.

Looking for opinions from those who have visited BA and Bangkok and\or Phillipines. How do they compare .. quantity and quality of girls, prices, and options (freelancers, massage parlors, escorts, etc.). Thinking about going to BA, but not sure at this point. Look forward to the responses! Thanks!

Although I'm solidly a BA fanatic I have to admit Rio is a serious contender to BA as the monger capital of the world (or at least Latin World). They're both great but in different ways.

Very curious to read how you compare Rio to BA?

    MrLA,

Ha, ha. Great! Yeah, if you stick with the CD's you can learn alot. I shopped around a while and Pimsleur seemed to be the best option. (Jackson, sorry if these are off topic). Feel free to delete.

Ibiza, some dudes are selling the courses for very expensive. What some guys do is buy the cassette or CD's then copy them then sell the original. Some sell boot leg copies. Of course this is illegal. Yet other guys provide the cd's for free and only charge for shipping them, etc. There are guys out there that want to help guys learn. Some guy offered me a URL for free where I could download all 90 lessons but it was EXTREMELY slow even on a fast T1 connection. (My time was too valuable and I just bought them...it was easier). I gave up after trying to download just one lesson. He told me not to give out the link so I'm not.

Or as I mentioned, if you live in a big city go to your local library. Most have at least the first set (30 lessons) for free to check out. I started out that way and liked it so much I bought the entire 90 lesson set. (I also bought Portuguese). This way you can try it and see if you like it and you don't have to pay anything. I wouldn't spend hundreds of dollars on this again. No need to spend more than $75 US on all 90 lessons. Like I said...there are plenty of options for getting all of them for very cheap. (Email me and I can help you find it for cheap.. saintofba@aol.com)

Yes, I'm going to BA tomorrow for 7 days then I'm flying to Rio for 8 glorious days. I'm trying to extend my trip in Rio for 4 or 5 more days for a total of 13 days and I'm heading to BA after my Rio trip for a few more days. I tried extending but now they want a ton of money. I'm interested in seeing how I'll like Rio. I'll post an in-depth comparison when I return.

Good luck and happy holidays all.

    Hello Saint,

I would like to know more about the pimsleur spanish courses you mentioned earlier. I think you said something about availability at a lower rate. Any info is appreciated.

And, I believe you have an upcoming trip to Rio and BA starting soon. I look forward to hearing your thoughts on the Termas in Rio vs. the clubs in BA.

To all and everyone - is anyone planning to be in BA around the 26th of January - 10th of Feb? Anyone have any thoughts on that period of the year in BA. Is it a slow time time in the Clubs for any reason?

Lots of great posts from the Thanksgiving weekend! Great to hear that everyone had so much fun in the lower hemisphere.

I am lookng forward to making my first trip at the end of January

Just a quick word about Pimsleur language courses, you might want to try some of the file swapping services( Kazaa etc) to see if you can download them off internet. Few months ago I was able to find a punch of Pimsleur Spanish and Portuguese MP3 files on Kazaa. Just a thought.

    DCRAIN:

When you go to a bank, you should ask the security guard (n Spanish, since none of them speak English, and they barely speak decent Spanish). Nobody will approach you.

Respect to good service, no bank has good service. Customer satisfaction is usually just a slogan down there.

Catto's and Hook are pretty away from the usual demonstrations gatherings. I guess that there is no problem going there.

    Hope this helps,

Hey MRLA. You're welcome. Pimsleur Spanish is great! I'm glad you like it. It really will improve your spanish if you stick with it everyday. I highly recommend the Pimsleur CD's for anyone that will be going to Buenos Aires. Even learning some basic stuff will help you immensely with the girls.

Also, you'll be very hard pressed to find a first class ticket for anywhere near that amount but Good luck. Tickets to BA right now aren't cheap. Keep in touch with me and maybe I'll be in BA during that time frame.

    Fellow Mongers,

I am new to the board. I am going to be in BA the week of February 2-11. If anyone wants to hook up and show me the ropes, would be fun. Now if any of you travelers who have too many "AIR MILES", and would like to get some cash, I would like a round trip ticket from "John Wayne airport to EZE, first class." The best coach price I found was $625RT. I am willing to pay $700 if anyone wants to earn extra money for a "First Class Ticket" Must know by Jan 5. Just a thought. Anyway really am having fun on the board, you guys have "GREAT" stories, and I can't wait to get there. Thanks for all the help "MR SAINT", the Spanish course is wonderful, and so simple. 47 days and counting to beautiful BA...

re: demonstations....if the demonstrations planned for later this week are as massive and potentially violent as some are predicting it would indeed be wise to stay away from the area where protests are taking place. Generally, protests have been centered around the Plaza de Mayo area, a safe enough distance from the downtown boliches.....In fact, I have been in the boliches a number of times when demonstrations were going on less than a couple of miles away.....and for all practical purposes the demonstrations might as well have been half way across the world.....

But even if Cattos or Cutty Sark are "safe", many of the chicas will not work while demonstrations are going on....they prefer to stay at home until things die down.....

    Agreed.

I was in BA for a month last week and walked around at night in different neighborhoods, some certainly not upscale like recoleta and had absolutely no problems. And I'm physically no Claude van Damme.

Despite what you read in the press BA is safer in my opinion then NYC during the crack epidemic in the 80's, when it was very dangerous here. The are problems with the taxi's and express kidnappping but if you are just a bit street wise you shouldn't have a problem. For example I always call taxi cabs, which are 100% safe, rather than hail the taxis cruising in the street. So do many Argentines.

And there is NO open hostility to Americans or foreigners, as you might encounter in say Arabic or Muslim countries, even if 37% of Argentines in a recent poll stated that they are against the American government\, which they consider in control the IMF.

I am not posting about street crime. I am not posting about violence against foreigners or Americans.

I only post an annoucement about the dates Dec. 19 & 20th, since email from my Argentine friends, is that there will probably be some violence on these dates during and after the massive demonstrations downtown and no one who doesn't want wants to get in the middle of it, particularly if you don't speak Spanish.

It is not wise for example to go to the downtown boliches ie Hooks or Cattos during those dates. Even many Argentines will not be downtown and caught in the demonstrations. It would be very naive to do so, unless you are specifically interested in the event, which is something else aside from mongering.

Best to stay in Recoleta, far enough away from the massive demonstrations downtown and you should be fine.
