Posts: 1064Andres lee, ddm, from the swiss clinic is now in LA-just saw him: implant and 4 unit bridge us $3900
Dr lee is likely the best dentist I have ever seen. He was in the penthouse at the swiss clinic. He uses a swiss implant method which is quick, relatively painless and inexpensive.
Over the last 7 years, dr lee has done now 10 implants in total. I have never taken a drug stronger than motrin. He jst finished my work in los angeles, california.
He sold everything he owned in Argentina and is now in LA. www.TopImplantCenter.com. Former argentrina patients get special rates and the same great service.
Again, he also owns the lab.
I flew in from miami for a long weekend and got the job done for less $$ including all expenses than just having one implant done in miami.

Posts: 291Hospital Alemán - Conjunctivitis
Had to find an ophthalmologist for a sudden case of conjunctivitis on Saturday so I tried Hospital Alemán, at Pueyrredón 1640. I don't trust ER doctors (for a long list a reasons) so for a little under $400 pesos I saw the specialist who spoke English, examined my eye, and gave me a prescription that works. Hospital Alemán is clean, professional, and very modern.

I contacted insurance carrier (Access America) before visiting dentist and got approval. They want all these special codes for the procedure, which I do not believe exist in Argentine. All I can say is typical insurance BS. Object is to tie you up in paper work in the hope you get discouraged. Everyone is a viewed as a crook. At this stage of my life, the hell with it. Just glad I have I have teeth. Will give a plug for the Dentist though, first class operation: Alejandro Nicosia, 4554-6627. Everything made and done on the premises.

I had a sudden onset of serve neck and arm pain. I called Travel Guard and they made the arrangemnts with the German Hospital. When I showed up at the hosptial, all the arrangements were made. I got good service and medications without paying one centavo. Travel Guard was great.
I once chose to go to the Swiss clinic first and they could not make arrangements with Travel Guard. I called Travel Guard from a locotorio and they sent me to the German hospital--again I paid for nothing and had no paperwork.
The conclusion: call your insurance companyt before you go and skip mthe paper work later. Travel Guard is owned by AIG--who generally is a real pain when making claims.

Travel Insurance:
Always like to get travel insurance when out of the country (US) just in case. During my last visit, lost a crown and had it replaced in BA. My travel insurance (Access America) covered emergency dental and filed a claim. Well, the fucking paper work and bullshit with them has taken on a life of its own and am at a point where I have better things to do. It is unbelievable. I question if there is even a legitimate insurance company in existence anywhere that pays a claim. Very discouraged with anything in corporate America. Can anyone recommend a travel insurance company that they have had experience with and can recommend?

Posts: 2470International Health Coverage
I thought I would interrupt the fascinating posts involving Redondo's idiocy and Mpexy's money with a question about international health care. I am thinking about doing some traveling about southeast Asia and looking to find the most cost effective way to cover myself. My Swiss Medical policy will only cover me for a period of three consecutive months after leaving BA, and then I am on my own. I have a friend who is covered with IMG (International Medical Group) and I have researched that. I am wondering if some of you fellows who travel extensively have any ideas about this topic, or any hands on experience with the various companies who offer coverage. PMs are welcome.
Thanks and cheers.

Posts: 99As it happens just yesterday I had a crown re-affixed at the office of Dr Bolles, 1016 Callao, tel 4814 3540. Charged me the cost of a consultation, 30p. I've been there before for cleanings--same price. The staff and doctor speak only Spanish. Clean and modern office.

Posts: 1043I've been to Hospital Aleman once and was satisfied but believe Swiss Medical is the best place you can go.
It's like a US hospital except that you never wait more than 20 minutes to see any kind of specialist, and that's just walking in without an appointment. And the doctors actually talk to you instead of just marking a checkboard like in USA.
