Buenos Aires - Reliable sources indicate that SantaFe 1707 will be closed on Monday for the MayDay holiday....Employee/whoares of Madonna report that that establishment will be open, but this report has not yet been confirmed by management...More updates will be posted as they become available.

Be ready to party with me (Dirk, Marak, Baires Pirata, Lowlight you guys too) next month. Let's blow it out! I'm dying here in the states. I'm fuckin wining and dining that Peruvian hottie I was telling you about and getting nowhere. I've been labeled a friend. I've got VIP passes to the hottest club in my city Saturday night and I'm taking someone who considers me her friend. Bunch of bullshit. My only hope is to get her drunk and disoriented to confuse her into thinking we're friends with benefits. It's nice to be seen out with such a hot girl (strange guys are patting me on the back at clubs) but I'm seriously losing interest in this chica.
Needless to say, it will be nice to know at the end of a night of partying in BA, I can stroll into a boliche and bang any number of hot babes.

I don't think that 25-May should be a problem. That holiday is actually taken on the Thursday, rendering it basically useless (no long weekend). Unlike Americans, Argentines don't seem to take one vacation day (Friday 26th) and turn it into a 4banger. Actually, the labor regs seem to shun this. Many apparently take their entire 2 or 3 week annual vacation in one shot in Jan/Feb, leaving nothing for the rest of the year.
There may be some places closed, but I bet that the vast majority are open that day. No worries. No big celebrations for this holiday that I can remember - some Argentines don't even know what its for. They party about as much as you do on Presidents Day in USA.
In my experience, the only day/night of the year that can pose a real problem is New Years Eve, when everything appears to be closed save a few restaurants for which you must have prior reservations (package couple deal for the whole night). Even on Christmas Eve you can find some open clubs and P4P, albeit limited.
The 3day weekend holidays should be taken into consideration for any domestic travel. For instance, Mar Del Plata will be packed for the 3day weekend of Flag Day in June. I recommend avoiding domestic tourist destinations those weekends. You cant really see the difference in BA, but when 10% of the porteno population is in Mar Del Plata, you sometimes cant even find a hotel there.
Hope this helps,
Moore

I'll be in town the morning of May 25th (a Thursday) which looks to be on Revolution Day. My plan was to bang like a pornstar mid-afternoon. Then, party like a rockstar with you, and anyone else whose in town later in the evening. The clubs should be open that night, right? Is this holiday like our 4th of July where everyone heads out of town especially when the holiday floats near the weekend? Or, does everyone head into BA and jam up the city to celebrate this fine festive holiday?
Break it down for me bro.

Judd

In case you didn't know, this Monday May 1st is a holiday in Argentina as it is in most countries excluding USA. Labor/Workers Day or MayDay. Institutions like banks are closed and most regular companies take it off. However, most restaurants and other businesses that normally work weekends are open. I don't remember if whoares take it off, I should put a call into SF1707 to guage the sector. They were closed for Good Friday which surprised me somewhat.
Here is the complete list of holidays to my knowledge:
Jan 1..........New Years
Mar/Apr.......Holy Thursday, Good Friday, Easter Sunday (4 day weekend)
Apr 2..........Islas Malvinas / Falkland Islands Day (occasionally turns Easter into a 5day weekend)
May 1.........Labor Day
May 25.......May Revolution Day
Jun 20........Flag Day
Jul 9...........Independence Day
Aug 17........San Martin Day
Oct 12........Columbus Day
Dec 8..........Immaculate Conception
Dec 24/25....Christmas
I forget which of the holidays can float so as to convene with a long weekend. Flag Day, for instance, is usually taken the 3rd Monday of June. There are other holidays like that.
