I appreciate all the information of visas. My schedule has changed, I think that I am going to rent a apartment in Recoleta area for one month, then head down to Brazil after I get my visa. Much better idea. Brazill seems like it is going to be a pain in the ass.

Anybody know of a good agency to use to get my Brazil visa. I do have an american passport, but I do have stamps in my book that show I have been in Panama and Colombia in the last three month, also, where is a good place to get yellow fever shots in argentina.

I recommend paying a local passport/visa service company a couple hundred pesos to do all the legwork for you. Takes about 3 days for the 5 year visa and you never have to leave your apartment.

In order to obtain an Brasilian tourist visa while in Buenos Aires, you need to go to the Brasilian consulate, which is located in a different building than the Brasilian embassy. The consulate is located on Carlos Pellegrini in a non-descript office building somewhere between Juncal and Santa Fe. There is often a line to gain access to the consulate, as there is only x-amount of waiting space in the actually floor where the consulate is located so a line forms outside the building and the security people control access to the elevator. Also, you probably need to show an air (I guess a bus ticket would also suffice) ticket and hotel reservations to get the visa. Although they can issue a 5 year, mulitiple entry visa, experiences from recent applicants are that they fuck the americans around in that they only give them the length of their air ticket / hotel reservation. I went in January 2005 and they gave me the 5 year mulitple entry version. The cost is $100 USD (possible slightly more now) My guess is that if you speak portuguese or spanish well and can smooth talk the person processing the visa you could manipulate them to give you the 5 year visa. I most recently was in Brasil this past January (Salvador) and there were no immunizations required for entry.

If I want to fly into Buenos Aires for a week, then fly to brazil, where is the Embassy in Buenos Aires for Brazil. Also, what shots do I need so that I will not get rejected at the border.

I recall that someone a couple of years ago reported on the process to get a visa to Brazil. I'm not sure if it was Jak, but you might do a search for Brazil and see what pops up. I know that when getting a visa in the US, there weren't any immunization requirements.

Guys, I am going to Rio De Janeiro in the next couple months, but I plan to take a 3-4 day expedition to Buenos Aires as long as I can come and go, not sure, if I enter Brazil on a tourist visa, can I come and go as I please for 3 months.
