Argentine holidays

Hello,

It's been a long time since I've had the privilege of visiting BA. It looks like I'll be coming down during Semana Santa. Will any of the privados or clubs be operating during the long weekend? If not, I hope at least "civilian" places like restaurants and bars will be open so that I can at least have some good beef and Malbec.

Also, is it correct that Thursday, March 20 is not a holiday, but Monday, March 24 is?

Saturdays are like business days especially in the morning. Private apartments are working, and all of the entertainment, as restaurants works, and even more. In general, downtown and areas such as El Once gets empty, but if you head to Palermo and Recoleta, action it's there.

Sundays parks get crowded with province immigrants, they bring all of their children and spend the day in there, especially the rosedal. As it's a free spot, many goes there.

I have readed in the newspaper that this year expected is to find the capital as a ghost town in January. I love that! No traffic, no noises. For free!

Any recommendation on things to do? I. E sightseeing or walking in parks or places that might be better with peace and quiet and no crowds.

Is it dead on the Saturday in between as well?

I am planning a visit to Buenos Aires over the July 9 holiday. Does the whole city close down for this holiday: stores, restaurants, etc? What options do I have for chicas on this day: escorts, clubs, coffee houses?

•January 1 - New Year's Day.

•March / April - Holy Thursday.

•March / April - Good Friday.

•March / April - Easter.

•April 2 -Malvinas.

•April 5-8 - Semana Santa.

•May 1 - Labor Day.

•May 25 - Día de la Revolución.

•June 10 - Día de la Bandera.

•July 9 - Día de la Independencia.

•August 17 - Conmeneración Gral. San Martin.

•October 12 - Conquista de America.

•November 23 - Thanksgiving (Shops will be open here!

•December 8 - The Immaculate Conception.

•December 24 - Christmas Eve.

•December 25 - Christmas Day.

•December 31 - New Year's Eve.

Holidays also have significant impact on the traffic. Two of my fastest trips from and to EZE have been on holidays. So plan accordingly.

Some corrections:

- Día de la Bandera is June 20th.
