Dim view of America / Americans

I recall my first sense of this, and it was in response to Madonna being announced as the actress to portray Eva Peron in the film version of Evita. The response was strong and vocal. With a bit of time, the sentiment may have changed some what with Madonna affecting a British accent for a spell and certain critics praising the role. (I won't permit myself to see her work, and actually think the initial response was warranted) Wait, I did see the excuse of a documentary where she humiliated her partner of the time, belittled another major Hollywood star / Oscar winner of that time, and laughed at her friend / dancer as she agonized over her bleeding that morning after anal sex. That particular work suited her well I believe.

In TL's attachment there is a photo of a coin, a peso that that has the caption "France used pesos?

As a bit of history about the coin for the non-Argentines here, certainly the Argentines know this.

The following is from my WCN column of Oct 2007.

"Region IX, Araucania, is the heartland of the indigenous Mapuche people who resisted both Inca and Spanish attempts at conquest. In the mid nineteenth century the Mapuche were resisting encroachments by the Chilean and Argentine Republics who desired the Mapuche lands for their agricultural potential. While visiting the region in 1860, Orelie-Antoine de Tounens, a French lawyer and adventurer, came to sympathise with the Mapuche cause. Possible believing that their cause might be advanced if they had an European acting on their behalf they elected Orelie-Antoine their king.

To legitimize the cause, he established a government, complete with a blue, white and green flag and coins minted for the new nation under the name of Nouvelle France. Naturally the Argentine and Chilean governments did not take kindly to this state of affairs and in addition to thwarting his efforts to gain internation recognition; Orélie-Antoine was captured, imprisoned and deported several times. To put an end to his efforts the two governments declared him insane and commited him to an asylum in Chile. He eventually died penniless in France in 1878.

As for the Mapuche, Chile had a large standing army with nothing to do at the end of the War of the Pacific and used it to complete the occupation of Araucana and its incorporation into the Republic of Chile in 1885. The Mapuche fared even worse in the Argentine Patagonia where the Argentine Army carried on what is known as "The Conquest of the Desert" which led to the end of the Mapuche in Argentina. There was a large scale migration to Chile where they were forcibly assimilated, those who remained, died. Orélie-Antoine was not a serious threat but his Kingdom gave Chile and Argentina a cause of action to further their aims, the conquest of Araucania and Patagonia."

This place was "Molotoved" on Sunday night during business hours!

2 women and a man were getting out of their taxi when the assailant tossed his "Cocktail" at the sign on the bar above the doorway and both of the women that were just patrons were engulfed in flames by accident!

One of the girls had an instantaneous abortion as a result of getting cooked! The other girl just had her head and shoulders burned!

The 3 bouncers at the door did not move a muscle to put the flames out! WTF?

A few months ago someone performed a drive-by shooting and shot one of the bouncers 4 times!

Probably just a bouncer's problem but do you really want to risk it?

    TejanoLibre services

I just returned from an awesome trip to BA, largely due to TejanoLibre's kindness! Thanks again, man!

TL knew the girl scene very well so I was never disappointed. Also he took me around the City showing me the incredible architecture. The Recoleta Cemetery was on my list of places to see and TL took me there and patiently waited while I snapped off close to 200 photos.

TL never asked for a single peso, but at the airport I grabbed some things he wanted back in the US before I left for BA. I was grateful for his assistance during my stay in BA, I passed along some dollars I had left. It was the least I could do. If I tried to find my way around for the 4 days I was there, I would not have had such a great time!!

Thanks again, TL. You the man!!

This Is The Best Reason To Lock Your Cell Phone's Keys

This is the best reason to lock your phones key Pad!

And it could not have happened to a nicer guy!

Marcos, the South African Kid from the party that everybody liked so much had called his girlfriend before we went to Hook one night and put his phone back in his pocket like usual.

    No big deal right?

Some Hooker at Hook was rubbing on his pants at the bar and accidently pushed the send button on his phone and it called his girlfriend who answered the phone but due to the music he was not able to hear her pick up the call!

She heard everything that was done and said for about 20 minutes! Shit!

She knew exactly where he was.

I still don't know how he got out of that! Good Bullshit I guess, probably blamed me for taking him there!

    Funny Story!

    TL.

Thought you boys might like that story!
