The other good option would be Hippopotamus (in Recoleta) on a Wednesday or Thursday night. Fifty or more attractive dancers taking it in turns to shake their bodies on a catwalk that stretches across three sides of the club. Some magnificent physiques on show. They don't strip off but what they're wearing doesn't hide much. You can sit right up close and stare and it doesn't bother them. Some will even smile back. On busy nights they will come over in pairs to your table and dance right in front of you (or on top of your table) for a minimal tip. At least one of them's a trannie but don't let that put you off. Worth the 200 pesos entry (or whatever it's gone up to now) for one drink just to watch. I'm probably the only guy on this board that finds a chica dancing up close and personal in bikini and high heels or boots more exciting than a completely nude one stripped off on a stage, so it works for me. Really sorry to hear you got ripped off. When going solo to clubs I prefer to avoid taxis if I can. I've never been threatened by a taxista but elsewhere in S America I've had the usual switch tricks when presenting a large note. Nuevo Estilo is a long ride out of microcentro so you're going to need to tender a big note unless you've stocked up on 10's and 20's. Specifying the intersection of the two nearest streets (in this case Figueroa Alcorta and La Pampa) is safer than giving the name of the club. Or get the driver to drop you off at a nearby landmark and walk it from there. On the local boards Nuevo Estilo is known as 'Pampita' so ask for that if you're going with a taxista you trust.

Ironically I posted about this in the Nuevo Estilo thread a couple of years back but that's not much help to you now. As this club has got quite popular on the board recently, here's the advice again for guys going there on their own.

I also sampled Nuevo Estilo (aka Pampita) just recently, for the first time. I think it was a Tuesday around 2am. Taxi dropped me on the corner of Figueroa Alcorta & La Pampa, the club is just around the corner from there on La Pampa avenue. There's a large discoteca called Rumi on the corner itself – use that as a reference point if you don't want to tell the taxista that you're visiting a mongering venue. I've had taxistas in Brazil & Chile try to rip me off when I've given them a club name – BA is better but I still avoid mentioning the venue if I know exactly where I'm headed. Nuevo Estilo itself is hidden behind a kind of ornamental hedge and it's easy to miss if you approach from the other side of the street.

I have always preferred Catto's to Hook. They have girls dancing the poles in bikinis but three or four times a night they have a full striptease. Nuevo Estilo is a great place but maybe not a good place to go by yourself if you are new. It's a ways out and can be tricky to get a cab home from without a little experience. Hook always has girls dancing on poles but they are in bikini's. Granted it may be a string bikini or just one of those dental floss slingshot things but you won't be seeing any nips. There is a blonde with long hair extensions that dances so sexy I could watch her all night. It might be enough to scratch that strip club itch. Every cab driver knows where it is and the bouncer will make sure you get in and out of a cab safely.

There are dancers at Madahos and Black also. Drinks will cost considerably more at either of those places. I don't remember if they strip down topless at either of those places but there was quite a show at Black with a girl who started off in a full nun outfit and stripped down from there.

Buenos Aires has relatively few actual strip clubs for a very simple reason: In a country where you can actually get pussy at any time, there is much lower demand for merely looking at pussy.

Nevertheless, if you're looking for an actual strip club, then I would recommend Nuevo Estilo at La Pampa 687. Of course you'll have to accept the fact that all of the strippers there are in fact available for takeout.

Oh, I'm not going to complain about that.

BsAs is not known for strippers, why watch when you can do? However Wednesday nights are free pizza night at Nuevo Estillo, which is the closest you are going to come to a strip club here. To find Nuevo Estillo you need go no further than the venues database and write down the address on a piece of paper, then jump in a taxi and thrust said paper under the nose of the driver.
