But the question. Anybody know of any privados/massage joints out this way ? Jumping on the subway will get me to the usual haunts downtown, but a short trip around here might be interesting. They've got to be here somewhere.

There are more than one that don't change names. For example 9 de Julio and General Paz.

Rivadavia is also the only avenue that doesn't change names when crossing the General Paz into the province. It goes on through many of the Buenos Aires province towns and is alleged to be the longest avenue in the World. Whether this is true or not I don't have a clue. Many mistakenly think Libertador also carries on into the province without changing names but this is incorrect as the full name in Capital is Avenida del Libertador but once it runs under the General Paz it changes to Avenida Del Libertador San Martin starting with a new numbering.

Another Avenue where the streets crossing it change names is De Los Constituyentes.

Well I'll be in the area for a little while and anything that cuts down on my learning curve\stops me getting ripped off is a good thing.

TL. I think I'll take you up on that. I'd like to meet up for a beer\coffee and tap your experience mongering\living here. I'll PM you. Given I don't speak much spanish and am new to BsAs. If you can show me the ropes, tips, pitfalls to avoid. Seems to me to make sense to cut my teeth in the more established barrio's before I go trailblazing where many more experienced mongers have never been.

I will report back once I've found a few places around this area.

AquaLung - thanks so much for your detailed post! Really appreciate it. The community here seems supportive. I think I'm going to like it a lot here!

Flores and Caballito area are really nice. As safe as Recoleta or Microcentro any day. The Rivadavia avenue cuts BA in half. The more North you go the nicer, the more South the more dangerous.

All the streets change names at Rivadavia. The streets grow South from 0 with one name and North from 0 with another name. For example, crossing Rivadavia t the 7400 number you have an important Avenue. South of Rivadavia it's called San Pedrito and North it's called Nazca. So San Pedrito between numbers 1 and 100 is one block South from Rivadavia, from 100 to 200 is two blocks South from Rivadavia and so on. The same for Nazca. Nazca 150 would be one and a half blocks from Rivadavia going North.

Rivadavia's numbering grows towards the West. 0 is East (Down by the River Plate) and it grows West to 11, 700. This is the border (General Paz freeway) between The federal city (Capital Federal) and the province of Buenos Aires. The last town in Capital is Liniers and the the first town crossing General Paz is Ciudadela and then Ramos Mejia. Both Liniers and Ciudadela can be rather rough. Ramos Mejia is quite decent and at one time it was the 'disco' capital of Argentina. (still a lot of dance clubs there and many really nice pubs etc)

The Sarmiento railway runs parallel to Rivadavia (one block North) so not all the streets crossing the avenue have a level crossing. You may have to find a crossing and then double back searching for the street you were originally on.

Going back to your original question. Yes, there are many privados in the area but they are mostly hit and miss. You'll find flyers stuck to most telephone booths with numbers and if you Google 'privados' or 'masajes' you'll find hundreds. None have been sampled by AP clients so you won't find much info here so your experience can be valuable to the members.

If you are not the experimental type, the 'subway' or underground' will take you into the middle of town in about 25 minutes. I think the A line gives up at about 11pm but there are many buses such as the 86 that run all night.

Those are walking distance from each other, forgot the name of the other one. You can ask any cab driver for a Privado in the neighborhood and you can look for the handouts on the phone booths.

I'm going to be living around this area and hope there are a few around.

Most of what I've seen listed here seems to be around Recoleta and Micro Centro.

I'm new to the city and would really appreciate any info on either where these are or how to find them.

    Thanks
