For your replies.
Based on them I decided to start my Latin America vacations from Bs As.
So I shall be there from October 3rd till the 19th.
I have finally chosen Fortaleza for January.
Anyway thank you all.
Moore I hope you will join me to Flores this time, drinks on me.
Last November you didn't follow me and Judd there. This time I hope you do.
Thomaso, I spend April to September in my home land, Greece, and October to March in America Latina, mostly Brasil.

I arrived in Argentina for the first time in January 2005 and I found it to be a good time to visit if you can stand the heat and humidity. I visited all the museums that one would care to visit in Buenos Aires (Malba, Casa Rosada, Museo Evita, many others) and they were all open. I do not remember the city being abandoned by a long shot, however, during the two months I was in town, I went away every weekend so I cannot testify to how the scene was during those periods.
I did not visit any houses of iniquity and all discos within the Capital Federal were closed as a result of the Republica Cromagnon fire that went down two days before my arrival. I did go to a disco right on the other side of the city limit off Avenida Libertador called Sunset, which was jammed packed. I do not remember a single restaurant or kiosk that I attempted to patronize being closed.
Suerte,

In January, in addition to other factors cited, there are very few concerts and museums are often closed. The City's remarkable culture moves to Mar del Plata. This may or may not impact your decision, depending on what you value. But I agree with Exon:
January "no" for BA. Yes for Mar del Plata, if you like that kind of place.

Posts: 995I don't know where you live, but if it is in the States, 3 weeks in BA during the slow, hot, muggy summer is better than three weeks anywhere in sex prison. Clubs are open and plenty of girls cannot afford vacations.

If you go for three weeks try to go to Mar del Plata at least for a weekend or a week. You will see why everybody goes to the beach. There is a member who has an apartment with great views. MDP is four hours away from BA, accesible by car or plane.

Posts: 1043Sure you can have a good time in BA in January, but many restaurants/bars/ other will be closed for the first 2-3 weeks of the month. Many places that remain open will be quite empty. Whoarehouses that normally have 10 girls working may have 2. Half the country, including the whoares, is at the beach taking their annual holiday. You can drive down 9 de Julio ave during rush hour and there is no traffic. Maybe a few 95 degree days per summer, mid80s is the norm.
If you want to visit during summer I recommend Feb. BA is mostly back to normal and you can visit a coastal city like Mar Del Plata while it is still happening but not overwhelmed with tourists like it is in Jan.

January is fine amigo. I was there in January 2006 and if you don't mind a little heat (95ish) you will be okay. As for the crowds, it was my first time so I have nothing to compare my experience to. I can say that the clubs I went to had plenty of chicas and we partied to the break of dawn. Go, you won't be disappointed. I am going again in January 2007.

Planing to spend about three weeks next January 2007 at BA's.
Can someone, please, tell me how is the city on January.
Is it worth visiting or is it deserted with most people being on vacations?
Thanks
