I suspect this is the way to go. We ended up in some relatively ghetto bar in San Telmo on Saturday, and these two girls pushed me into a chair and started dancing on top of me. The one girl was absolutely thrilled when I bought her a $3 drink. Don't think it would've been too hard to pick up girls in a place like that. Everybody there was kinda marginal however.

If you stay out of the tourist traps you can lower your cost and raise your kill ratio.

This place is a far cry from my favorite mongering spots like Thailand and Cuba where I can just walk into a totally normal bar with totally normal looking girls, and any of them is thrilled to be my girlfriend for 24 hours for like 30 bucks. Not to mention where I can easily afford to buy myself and the girls bottles of liquor -- here it just seems like everybody sits around not drinking and looking angry. To each his own, however.

I've had similar experiences although I find the ratio to be a little better at Madahos (on select nights) for my taste.

Hey guys,

I arrived in BA for the first time on Friday. I'm 26 and only a dabbler in the P4P scene. I spent the weekend checking out regular bars, but wasn't too thrilled with what I saw. Too many bars were either lounges where everybody sat around talking to friends or hardcore dance clubs, not enough in between like in america. Plus not enough of a gringo-boost like in some places. So off to greener pastures I went last night.

First stop was Hook's for the supposedly younger chicas. Was around 12:00, I peeked in and saw about 15 girls sitting around bored and no dudes at all. Seemed kinda depressing, I asked the guy at the door where the guys were and he said in the bathroom. All of them? I told the guy I'd be back later and quickly moved on.

Next stop was Newport. I was looking for something a little more relaxed with less pressure to start. I stepped into quite the freak show. Most of the girls looked like mechanical michael jacksons. Some pretty horrific stuff but it was early so I grabbed a seat outside to see who entered. A few not so good looking chicks wandered in, and a lot of dudes wandered by before quickly bailing. I actually saw one guy walk in and out in three seconds and dry heave as he stumbled off. It was pretty amusing to see all the regular uninformed folks try to sit down outside or wander in. The waitress would calmly drop off menus and they invariably would split when they saw the prices. Eventually some freak named Lorena came out to my table. She was a very close talker and seemed kinda intoxicated. At one point she put both her hands around my neck and jokingly strangled me. Very strange uncomfortable attempt at flirting. I told her I had to go to the bathroom and she almost fell off her chair trying to restrain me to buy her a drink. Fortunately she fell upon some old dudes sitting near by and I was able to escape. The guys here actually seemed pretty reasonable and sophisticated. I did see a few of them leave with some really ugly hookers, but not many. I saw at least 10 guys with sweaters tied around their necks.

After that freakshow, I decided I needed something a little more upscale so I bailed on Hook's and at 1:30 I entered Madahos. First impression was a few ok looking girls and a whole ton of aggressive uglies. The manly creatures dancing on stage were particularly offensive. Reminded me of a bad Reno strip club. I did see one cute girl, but she was talking to an older gentleman. Eventually he wandered off and I made my move. Girl was cute and fun to talk to but seemed really nervous and aloof. I asked her a few times if she was with the old dude, but she said she was available. I started to get the feeling you get when you are trying to hit on a girl who is not at all interested in you. After a brief lull in the conversation, she got up without saying anything and walked back over to the old dude. Ouch, rejected by a hooker. So I was pretty bummed at the point, and a few vultures moved in to take advantage of my weakened state. One rather boring girl was trying to rub my forearm rapidly to pique my interest (very strange) It seems that looking away and being nonresponsive does not get rid of these girls. I guess I just gotta say I don't like you or walk away. Another manly one walked up and scratched my lips with one of her nails (again, very strange) I had seen enough so I bailed.

It was like 3:30 but I wasn't tired. So I decided to check out Crocodilo. I survived the 20 second cab drive going 80 MPH and the guy let me look upstairs before paying the 100 peso cover. Not much going on, but I figured I was there so what the heck? I was hoping for the appearance of a more normal bar scene, but no such luck. 3 girls dancing on the bar, all looked like men. I don't think I've ever seen this many girls with man-faces in one night in my life. There were about 20 girls there, mostly transplants from other countries. A lot of guys sitting in the back decked out like they had bottle service at a top club, very strange. Also quite a few couples there for some reason and some old white dude taking pictures. Only saw a few girls dancing with one drunk guy and a few gay guys. A few 5's entered but were quickly grabbed by all the dudes in the back. Mostly uggos however. Eventually, some dude about 40 comes up to me and starts talking to me in broken English. I can't follow so I tell him to switch to spanish but he doesn't speak that either. I gathered he's on vacation with his wife from brazil (she's not a working girl) They are interested in a threesome. I guess they spent the whole night looking for another girl but couldn't find anything (I can commiserate) So now they want me instead. The wife isn't even in view, but I manage to get a look. She's not particularly attractive (looks 40) although at least she looks like a real person unlike most girls I saw last night. I tell him I'm not interested, and he starts to plead with me ("but she's on vacation.") Where the fuck am I? I apologize but say no thanks. Guy takes it well (nice guy actually) Incidently, this is the second time in as many weeks I have been approached for a 3some with a married couple in south america. Both times the guy approached while the girl was not even in view, there has to be a better way.

I was getting ready to leave when an ok-looking girl approached me. She was maybe a 5, but at least she didn't have a hardened hooker look (stringy body, man face, etc) Looked a little like the pornstar Stacy Carpenter, but less attractive. She seemed nice enough, although not particularly affectionate. It was like 5 now, and I was down with leaving with her, although at no point was I particularly aroused. She offered 300 for an hour. I was pretty tired, so hoping for TLN since I would get way more out of morning action at that point. She didn't seem to understand, or at least pretended not to. I kept asking but eventually gave up and offered 200 for an hour. She agreed but said I had to pay another 80 to some dude at the place. I thought it was supposed to be independent (maybe it's changed? I didn't see the point since we were both leaving anyways so I got her number and told her I'd text her. I left and again repeated my offer of 300 for TLN via text. She responded "si, 300 para una hora." I'm getting a little annoyed at this point, so I ask her why she won't spend more time with me. She offers 2 hours for 450. I give up and wish her goodnight. She quickly offers an hour the next night (tonight) for 200. I learn she has a kid she takes care of during the day which explains why TLN is off the table. I texted back and forth with her a little and she seems sincere enough so I may take her up on it. Mostly just bored and curious though, not really all that excited about it.

Overall spent about $80 on entrance fees, drinks, and cabs. Actually a really entertaining night although mostly just for the people watching and comedy value.
