I think the answer to the last question is no, but their policies seem somewhat similar, just the Peronists were a whole lot worse.

If I ran for office I would use these promises.

At the moment many opposition parties are trying to get him into their camps. This week he was seen to be very friendly with Macri.
He is a big thorn in Cristina's side. Strangely enough he is one of the main reasons (or at least a very important one) we don't have a dictatorship here. The opposition parties are non existent so she could do practically as she wishes if she had him on her side. If Cristina had her way we would already be another Venezuela and well on the way to be another Cuba.

Also, according to the law every crook has the right to flee. If you shoot someone in the back while he is running away after robbing you even if it was at gun point it is not considered self defence. There was no threat to your life by a guy running away.
Of course, unless you have an idiot as a lawyer, most people who have killed in a contested self defence case rarely get the book thrown at them. Maybe manslaughter which carries a three year suspended sentence.
If it was up to me I'd hang even the pick pockets in Plaza de Mayo but the law won't allow me!
Again, I repeat, make sure you have a good attorney who has experience in self defence cases.

It all boils down to being able to prove that you really felt (and can prove) your life was in danger. However, it's still a good idea to have a good lawyer available. The US embassy (or whatever nationality you are) can provide you with a list of recommended local lawyers. Never a bad idea to have it whenever you are in a foreign country.

Posts: 3510They have some kind of bullshit equal force law to where if you pull a knife I can't shoot you, if you pull a club I can't knife you, and so forth. I am sure Aqualung will weigh in on this but I was also told that if someone under 18 tries to rob you all you can basically do is keep his hand out of your pocket. I have often wondered if the chorro I pushed off the moving train near V. Montes station was over 18 or not. I am pretty sure he was but quite frankly I would have done it anyway. Now the kid who tried to steal my backpack in Retiro, I was going to ram his head into the plexiglass door but I was less sure he was 18 so gave him a fuerte patada en el trasero and let it go at that.
There have been two incidents recently in my state where drunk college students walked into or broke into the wrong house and got shot. One instance was a woman. 21 or 22, who had just graduated and had a BAC of. 24 and wandered into some couple's bedroom. Unfortunately for her they were attorneys who had previously received death threats due to some case they were involved in. Apparently they warned her they were armed and would shoot and she opened the door anyway. The other case was a guy who had just turned 21 the previous day and was still so drunk he broke a window and let himself into a house that he apparently thought was his. That guy had an antique shotgun and perforated the lad fairly thoroughly. In either situation the shooter would be in trouble in Argentina, I think. However in my state as soon as the person passes the threshold you can blow them away with impunity. I have mixed feelings about that since in a way it implies the death penalty for burglary, but on the other hand I have little sympathy for the idiots in question. The woman recovered fully and got light jail time but the guy is still in the hospital and may have permanent damage as in shit in a bag for the rest of his life.

If a juvenile attacks someone, local or foreigner, are we literally defenseless to protect ourselves because even defense is not allowed against a juvenile attacking you with fists, pipes, knives?
Is there any actual limit short of death where fighting back against a juvenile thug beating on you won't get you, the adult, in more trouble with the law?
